COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #33

I love crockpot cooking Dr. B.! It is tender, good, stays warm until you want to eat and doesn't interrupt your day. I use it 2-3 times a week.

The MAD COW is not bothering you I see. I bought $60.00 worth of ribeyes on sale Sunday and took them back Tuesday. Ate one of them (or tried to), it was not good. I told them to test it when I took it back. I don't think it was a sick cow, but something was wrong with it. I've never had a problem before, but wasn't going to keep that much meat I couldn't even eat. We got a store credit for $60.00.

Catfish nuggets and cold slaw (with part of my thumb in it) was very good for supper tonight. Of course, hubby had to have french fries with his!

Ouch, Sue! Slaving over a hot computer usually does not have such colateral damage. Type, don't cook.

And Jim, I use the "Turbo Cooker". Wok shaped with dome lid. 2 ounces of water (that's 4 Canadian) and seal the lid and it steams all in a coupla minutes. THEN use as wok for frying with some added sauces.

Umm. Ummm. Except not smelling anything, since it's only 6:45 here and nowhere NEAR dinner time yet. BUT MY STOMACH says "Sue, where's the beef?"

We're a little late coming in from AWANA because Nick came to me saying after class and saying his verses that he asked Jesus into his heart! We went and talked to our Minister of Ed to reassure Nick and prayed again then. Nick is so excited. We've had to call all our relatives and let him share the great news!

Isn't that GREAT!!!!

I love woks and slow cookers both! We stir fry a LOT of foods. I think it's probably the healthiest way to prepare veggies. Seal in the nutrients. I use the slow cooker for the cheaper meats. Yummmmm... One of you guys mentioned cooking ham in soy sauce. I've still got to try that!

That is GREAT Diane! Tell Nick I said "Praise the Lord" and welcome to the family of God!!!

You could tell him he is now my brother, but that might scare him too badly.

Ham in soy sauce??? Ham is usually salty and so is soy sauce. I've never heard of that.

I like to throw a roast, potatoes, and carrots, onions, green pepper, and garlic in the crock pot and forget about it all day. The house smells sooo good! For supper, all I have to do is throw together a salad! Boy, I do a lot of throwing when I cook, but I guess that's better than 'hurling'.

Isn't that neat Sue!! He's been asking and talking but would always say he wasn't ready yet. Tonight he came right up and said he'd left after saying his verses and walked down a dark hall to pray by himself.

Yep.... one of our guys said soy sauce and pineapple I THINK. I thought it sounded odd but then I like ODD foods! I use soy sauce with pork roasts so why not ham slices!?!

Now I'm wanting Stir Fry!! LOL Jim's still not home. We called him right away. He's still a couple of hours away.

Ham is much saltier than pork roast, but it might work if pineapple were added...

It has been a long day and I am tired. Gonna wrap my thumb so I don't break it open in my sleep and put this tired body to bed.

Good night all. See you in the morning...

I have just gotten in from church and saw the latest about Gwyneth's mother. Gwyneth had my name in the Christmas Swap, so we got to know each other really well.

And although my heart hurts for her tonight, isn't it neat how we know on the same day God called one of His precious saints home, He brought another one (Nick) into the family?

Welcome to the family, Nick!

Love in Christ,
CJ

Isn't that neat, C.J.! Nick has been praying for Gwyneth's mother with us every night. He called her 'the little old lady in England'. He was upset when I told him she'd died but then I reminded him he could meet her one day in heaven!

I've really been looking forward to this! I knew he was right on the verge but did not want to push him and 'make the decision' for him!

Just sending out the grif.net mailing for the 29th and wonder if anyone is around?

Finish watching Seabiscuit. What an excellent movie!

Think we can all say AMEN to that news!

Somewhere I missed it earlier but want to join the heavenly chorus rejoicing at a sheep being found!

Good way to END the day for me!

Good Morning All!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any colder!!! It is 5ºF with windchill of -10ºF. More snow today, 1-3 additional inches. Supposed to be -9ºF tonight!!!!!!!

Boy, I wish they'd close the schools for the rest of this week! I feel so sorry for the kids who HAVE to walk in these temps. Some of them don't even have decent outer clothes to keep them warm!

Gonna call the school today and ask if I buy two coats could they give them to this one family and not mention my name. The boy just wears a hooded sweatshirt and the girl wears a coat that doesn't zip with no boots, hat, or gloves.

At my 'old' corner, I would buy stocking caps and gloves and pass them out to the kids who didn't have any, but this corner is different. I'm not even sure the parents would let their kids keep them. :(

Gonna put the decaf on now...

Morning Sue,

Appreciate your tender spirit about "your" kids.

Not as cold here as there, but we may well have an all day frost, which is rare here.

Be careful on "your little corner of the world"

Good Morning Roger!

You know, we live from payday to payday, just like most of the rest of the world....but the more we give away, the more we have!

You can NEVER outgive the Lord!

Morning everyone, Been up for a while but Jon was fooling around doing laundry at 3:30 and woke me so I lost a bit of sleep in the middle of the night. He likes to go in at 4 a.m. and put in overtime EARLY but ended up going back to bed. THEN there was a horrible wreck on the interstate near us. They're telling everyone to stay in their homes. A tanker hit an overpass and exploded. They're concerned about fumes. I need to be at work at 11:00 but the back roads were jammed and it was taking hours to go 15 miles. Maybe it'll be cleared before I need to leave.

So how are all YOU this fine morning?

Just checked again and the highway will be reopened by 9:00 a.m. supposedly. The danger is past. The fire is out and fumes should have dissipated. The driver died in the wreck and the bridge going over that part of the interstate will be closed for a few weeks. It's not an exit I use.

Morning Diane. That is a terrible wreck! You could have posted the pic in here. It has to do with the subject matter and is only 'slightly' larger than the BB logo when you consider the difference in the heighth and width.

I am off to warm up my car and go to the corner.

Y'all play nice.

It is FRIGID out there!!!
