    Good morning, everybody!! [IMG]

We got the snow they predicted, and it is absolutely beautiful!! Everything is covered in white...probably 2-3" on the ground. (More than a "light dusting"!) And it's still coming down! In fact, it's coming down pretty hard right now! Looks just like a picture postcard of a "winter wonderland"!! [IMG]

It's supposed to be moving out by noon today and the high will be 35º, so a lot of it should be gone by this afternoon. One of the guys on the local news last night said it's been 6 years since we got any measurable snowfall, so this is quite a lovely treat this morning! And of course, by the time people start walking and driving around, it will turn "mushy ugly", but for now, it's just beautiful!!

I took some pictures...will post some later!

CJ - drinking coffee and watching it snow!

(P.S. You guys in the midwest, northeast and Canada are probably laughing about now! I'm sure after a month or two of snow, this is NOT how you would describe it in your area!!) [IMG]

Three snow flakes would make a light dusting!

Five would make a blizzard - in Mississippi!

Dan - I'm north of the Mason/Dixon line! [IMG]
</font>[/QUOTE]I beg your parden, I'm south.

Last night we got an eight inch snow:
a flake here, a flake 8" over yonder,
yet another flake 8" over there [IMG]

Roger!!! Glad to see you are keeping us up with the game today...although you are having to do it by yourself!!! [IMG]

So in 11 minutes, France went from a score of 11 to a score of 25...2, 3, or 5 points at a time? How long is the game?

Sorry you're team is losing, but hang in there...sounds like things could change VERY quickly!! :D

CJ - still watching the snow

CJ, hi and how are you?
You're watching snow, Roger is watching something that makes him cry and calls it entertainment and I have been gardening and watching ladybirds.
Glad you are pleased about the snow, CJ. I don't like the stuff myself and we don't get too much of it here thankfully.
Well, it is coffee time now and then got some reading to do,
    God Bless

    Sheila

CJ, Isn't snow beautiful when one can stay home?

People in Texas and Oklahoma just don't know how to deal with snow.

We have had very little snow or ice this year.

We had some beautiful snow flakes last night, but that was all.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Valentine's day.

Jim, I'm concerned about new people who have not read all the threads about veils, modesty, etc. who might not know the truth and be easily swayed. Have you noticed that some people will not answer a question?

I think I will take a break and let Ed and Dr. Bob handle it. Aren't they doing a good job?

THANKS A LOT, Thankful!! I've already been on the BB "snipping" and answering pm's. (note apostrophe between m and s).

Cannot figure why folks come in here and climb all over the furniture with their shoes on. One is "going postal" and for the life of me I could not figure out the problem. Incoherrent ranting.

And it WASN'T on the Versions thread!

Lots to do today. 23F and bright sun, climbing toward 45. See, we DID send the cold east and the snow to Texas.

Don't say I never gave you anything!

Betty, Betty, Betty! ME TOO! Young Christians see this outlandish stuff and think they have to cover and wear dour clothing to be a 'good Christian'. Legalism at its' finest! [IMG]

We've even had one of our Baptist youth post that they refuse to hold hands with SBC or other Baptist youth at a prayer rally because they're not of her 'faith'. She openly posted that!

I sort of wish we had a forum for that type stuff to be discussed in a private manner so that the threads don't show up when someone is searching topics. Maybe a forum for Anabaptist/ Mennonite discussions?

    Morning all!

Had a great time at the church Valentine Banquet last night and YES I ate too much.

Going out for Prime Rib tonight! :D

Hubby is so sweet....I got up this morning and the dining room table was covered in gifts for our anniversary (including both chocolates and roses)!

I am so excited! Shawna (youngest daughter) just got Internet service and I've been chatting with her online all morning. She is joining the BB.

    Off to check 85 emails!

    betty,

I think it is good for the uninitiated to see this ranting. Prepares them for reality in the churches.

What concerns me is the inherent dangers of people playing with theology when they totally ignore the basics of biblical interpretation.

We like to say that everyone is open to interpreting the scriptures, but there are still rules and without the rules we have Judas going out and hanging himself..go thou and do likewise and whatsoever thou doest, do quickly.

The basics: (1) What did the text mean to the biblical audience; (2)What are the differences between the biblical audience and us?; (3) What is the theological principle, and; (4) How are we to apply the theological principle to-day.

They say culture isn't directly mentioned, but culture can be everything to understanding what is being said.

This is why I impress upon new Christians to purchase a reliable handbook to the bible as their first purchase. It gives a brief historical record and cultural setting...they can always work out what the text is saying.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    What a wonderful anniversary C4K!

Speaking of shunning people of other faiths...I was raised AoG and Baptist (which, shockingly, are quite similiar  ) But now we attend a church that is identical to Baptist except for the eternal salvation position. This denomination doesn't say that. So, my dilemna if anyone cares to comment, is: I am embarrased to tell people where I go to church because the name is SO close to a denomination that I feel is liberal and I do not want people to think I am the "other" faith.

At a homeschool Moms gathering, several gals jumped to the assumption that I AM that other faith. It was awkward for me.

It's crossed my mind to jump churches and just go the Bible Baptist a few blocks away. It's huge but then I could post all over this board :D

Hey Jul, if someone asks, you might answer with the description first such as 'Oh I go to a very nice non-denominational church which is pretty much an XYZ church'. If they ask the name then you can say 'Don't let the name mislead you tho!'

    That would be hard!

Well, I had to go into work this afternoon. Wasn't expecting that but the need was there. It was only for a few hours tho, plus almost 30 mins. drive time each way. Maybe between now and next Thursday I can get my housework caught up!

My husband is going to work part time for this same fella for 3 weeks. The man wants Jim to go full time but Jim is so very honest. The fella would have the money to pay him and has offered Jim a part ownership thing but Jim went with him to the factory and met with the owners and he is afraid this wonderful guy is going to end up losing money on his investment. As a Christian, Jim can't just take the money and run. He's been very honest with our friend and wants him to proceed very slowly.... even if it means no full time job for us. Integrity is very important to hubby.

How's everyone this fine evening? Haven't had time to answer emails or pm's. I can't see them at work (emails)!
