Well it's almost afternoon and I'm just dropping by. Jim had a job interview this morning and as usual, it sounds too good to be true. He's to have a second interview later in the week. We'd like for him to be able to keep his night job (3 til midnight) until we see if these offers are real or not but who knows...

Dan, I probably should have tried to sew my finger shut. I don't know what sort of thread would be okay tho. Someone ought to make emergency kits for poor folk! The opening is still about 1/8th of an inch and the skin there flaps back. I think it'll dry up and have to be cut off but Jim insists that I leave it for now. No sign of infection but it is still quite sore and the finger tip is lopsided now. There goes that beauty contest. [IMG]

I've notified some friends that I'd like to home school a 3 - 5 year old this fall. The Christian School charges almost $7,000 for 180 days! I need to find some way to earn $250. a week just for us to pay our bills. I've signed up one afterschool family for $80. a week tho and have another that wants 4 days a week but longer hours and she expects supper too for a LOT less money. That one is on 'hold' in my book!

    Keep us in prayer please.
    Diane

Boy Howdy from bright and warming Wyoming. Each day it's a little warmer. 64F as I type and will hit nearly 80. Then highs in the 80's all week. But lows drop to 50F so that is comfortable.

House is a cyclone. We have a downstairs closet filled (think Fibber MaGee) with boxes floor to ceiling. #1 son spend 1.5 years in Korea as a missionary 11 years ago, has traveled with me to Egypt, Israel, etc and pitched his passport when it expired.

NOW his business needs him to go to Lebanon and France and he has to start the process over. So we tore apart EVERYTHING looking for the old passport.

I finally (in my permanent papers) found his birth certificate so he can get a new passport, but it sure would be easier to send the old expired one and $$ and get a new one. And he needs it in 10 days, of course. Grrrr.

So now will take a while to go BACK and get the closet organized. #2 son and family are flying back from house-hunting in LaLaLand tomorrow, and that is the closet in the basement area where they are living TEMPORARILY.

    Job security for a Dad doesn't end when they turn 18 . . .

    Hi all:

I sat down in the recliner after the grandsons left for VBS this morning and just now woke up!!!
I must have been more tired than I realized...

Now, it is time to fix lunch. They will be home in about 30 minutes. I am having 'adult' company for supper and I haven't a clue what I am going to serve! It's not like me to do things at the last minute, but it HAS been a busy week so far (actually a busy MONTH)!

If nothing else, I can whip up a big batch of chili. The weather here has certainly been cool enough for it! I bought a HUGE watermelon yesterday. That could be dessert! There! Problem solved...

    TTFN!

We have that in Canada. It is called social medicine.

Diane, You could try what is called a buttefly bandage. They are often used in emergency rooms to close wounds. There is also a liquid bandage that appears to close wounds in an emergency.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hi Jim, I should have used either of those but think it's too late now. It's a week today.

Barnabas is creating problems. Look what he showed me!

Oh no! Diane and Roger have turned this otherwise conservative meeting place into something avant-garde. [IMG] Watch out folks! [IMG]

P.S. And Diane is trying to blame all this on me? Sue, where are you when we need you?! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Just stopping by briefly to see what's up. Had to work another full shift for the clinic and was run ragged. The wife and I both just got home and both exhausted.

One more night with the kids gone to LA, so I am taking her (her treat, of course) to Red Lobster. Not a real child-friendly place, so would not take the tiny ones there.

    Or so we justify it!!

I have been busy with three grandsons! I will have them from tomorrow morning at 4:00AM until Thursday evening around 4:00PM. I will certainly need a break!!!

I had company tonight for supper - had Schnitzels.

    Pleasant dreams all!

What exactly do you call a "schnitzel", Sue (or anyone.

In the Middle East (I've spend more time there than I care to remember) it is a breaded patty/pounded fillet of chicken, turkey, hamburg, lamb, et al. Can remember the table d'hote (large dining room and waiters go around serving from platters - not much choice) at the Ramada in Jerusalem and every day (except shabbat) he would ask if I wanted "schnitzel" and "veGEETables"!

Vegetables were lots of potato and gourds and squash cut in chunks and saturated with EVOO. I always made his day by asking WHAT KIND of "schnitzel" tonight? He'd have to check and find out the mystery meat.

By the end of a fortnight, he was greeting me by name and volunteering the information BEFORE I asked.

Night all - just finished surfing about 20 of the BB forums and must turn in early. Big day at the clinic tomorrow, then kids flying in from LaLaLand at supper time.

Missionaries to Papua New Guinea (friends since freshmen in bible college) will be here Thursday so getting things set up. They are here to see the wife at the clinic, but I will lose study time and invest it with them. So working on my Sunday sermon, too.

Life moves on at petty pace. Right. Nothing "petty" about most of our lives!!

    Good morning all:

Dr.B.: The only Schnitzel I have ever eaten is made with a veal cutlet - pounded, breaded, and deep-fat fried.

It is served on a large bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and HOT SAUCE on the side. (I use mayo instead of hot sauce on mine)

It makes a HUGE, thick, sandwich. The meat goes to the edges of a dinner plate! No one could finish theirs last night...

Cruising 'til the boys wake up...

    Morning to all stateside folks.

Just back from the dump - it costs nearly as much to get rid of the stuff as it does to buy it

Roger - I'm tempted to say something sarcastic - like the whole country of Ireland would only make small sized dump for New York City - but I won't! [IMG]

Ouch! If this country doesn't get serious about recycling, reusing, etc it's going to be that New York City sized dump.

My county runs the refuse collection points. You can either hire a service to pick the trash up for you - or take it yourself. I find it's cheaper for me to take my own trash to the collection center - than to hire it done.

It costs me $1.50/bag - what's it cost over in Ireland?

We have a small bin (140 litre) since we try to recyle and the cost is about €20 a month ($25) for a once weekly collection.

At the dump today I took an old washing machine in and it cost me €16.47 plus 50kg worth of regular rubbish that cost me €4.60. Let's see thats about $25 as well.

Our trash service furnishes us with a small dumpster and empties it (and picks up whatever doesn't fit inside - old chairs, tv's etc.) EVERY WEEK and charges $35.00 every three months or approximately $2.18 a week. Well worth it!

We can recycle old appliances (washers, dryers, fridges, etc) at no cost.

Disposing of old tires - $1.50 ea.

Yard waste - concrete, stone, bricks, tree stuff - is disposed of locally in a dump owned by my village at no cost - we just have to take it there ourselves!

The City of Hornell - five miles from me - has a contract with a rubbish hauler. They are paid from an add-on to the city taxes. They pay the city - whether or not they take advantage of the city program!

The county landfill will not take vegetative material!
