School is almost done for today and we are going to be busy with 'house' chores.

I will be back later this afternoon (hopefully). If not, I will for sure be back after supper.

    HAGD!

Hey Tater... she had said 'I'm going out on some errands and will drop them off before lunch'. Well, no show. I called her cell phone at 12:30 and she's in Wal-Mart. Now she isn't sure if she's going to bring them or not. I'm trying to be assertive today and have printed up a form concerning Christmas break to give her. The kids have off 3 full weeks and I figured up how many hours she works.

ok question for all of ya smart ones out there! I cleaned off and out the pan that I deep fried the chickens in. THe black stuff from the flame, how do I manage NOT to get it all over the kitchen and myself when I clean it without ruining the dish towels and such? How do I get the soot out of the dish towels and clothes?

You mean you have to change oil after each fry??? That could get expensive, especially if you are using peanut oil.

I use my deep-fat fryer several times before cleaning it out. If I fry fish or something in it, I just drop a potato in it while it is still hot and it takes the fish taste away and the oil is as good as new.

Use paper towels to clean it - not dish towels. You will wash, I'm not sure about the towels...

Did you get the results from your CAT scan today?

I think the soot was on the outside, Sue. I would do like your mama said tho and use paper towels to get the soot off. I do that with my candle toppers. I spray them with windex and let it loosen the soot off the glass toppers.

Well, I'll have a total of 7 kids tomorrow. Nick of course, Ty at 7:45 til 5:15, 20 month old Jack will be from 8:45 til 11:15 ish, the sisters are supposed to come about 11:30 til 8:00 p.m. knowing the father and the brother and sister will be from 2 til 6:15 or so depending on Atlanta traffic. So.... 3 at one time in the morning and 6 in the afternoon.

I've got to get some things done before bed so wishing you all peaceful and restful sleep without pain or worry.

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time. 26 But the judgment shall be set, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27 And the kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High: his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. 28 Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts much troubled me, and my countenance was changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

Boy Howdy and blessing LATE Monday night. Did not have a good Sunday (unreal pain without relief) but today was better. God is better to me than I deserve. I seldom could go 8 hours (a work shift) without having serious health issues. Sunday I'd have been happy for 8 minutes.

Tuesday I will have my second session with Social Security to deal with disability/medical assistance. Of course we make a good living with my wife's work (I now make under 10k a year so qualify for everything) so that is an issue.

Our big problem is no health insurance. IF I have to spend a week in the hospital, it will cost us our house. And that day, of course, is coming with my illness. No one will insure.

So ask prayer as I try to convince bureaucrats to consider such a dilemma. Maybe get into medicaid (we would PAY the premium if ANY major catastrophic help were available). So many milking the system and then I face a need and they just look at me and say "Get a job."

Okay. Time for some cheese with my whine . . [IMG]

In my country, medical care is greatly subsidized by the government. there are private hospitals but the government hospitals do not come behind in any way to the private ones. yet much cheaper. Maybe longer waiting times in some cases but you'll still get the best medical care available.

(Singapore is advertising ourselves as a medical hub, in fact. Like whenever there are bombings in Indonesia, people like the expatriates are airlifted to Singapore for medical attention....)

These recent years, i've been to hospital to give birth to my three babies. It was in a government hospital but i got the best care no different from private hospitals. We only had to fork out a small percentage of the total bill. the rest of it was paid through the Central Provident Fund. That is the monthly employer/ employee contribution that you can only use for hospitalization, major illnesses.

You can also use the CPF to pay for housing if you choose to get government funded housing. So most of our population live in a Housing Development Board flat. My husband pays for our flat monthly through the CPF and it doesn't eat into our real income.

I think we've got a good system going. Our government will not give out welfare packages but bears a great amount of the cost for housing and medical bills.

And it keeps the people working and the economy going.

    Good morning all:

53º this afternoon and rain. 39º tonight with a high of 42º tomorrow. 2-4 inches of SNOW and a temp of 22º are supposed to greet us when we get up Thanksgiving morning to do papers!

Going shopping, this morning, for the ingredients I need to make Thanksgiving dinner. I will put everything together Wednesday (except the turkey), it will go in the oven when we get up to do papers. When it is done, the dressing etc. will go into the oven and I will be watching the Macy's Parade...

    Cruising,

Our dear Dr. Bob, our prayer focus will include your need for health care coverage. I well know the fear that illness would leave us homeless and it's not a good feeling. Praying RIGHT now and will ask my prayer warrior friends to pray for you and this need.

    Delivered from Suffering
2 Corinthians 1:8 For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. 9 Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, 10 who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, 11 you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.

Dr. Bob, when I went to get on SOcial Security Disability. I was told by a lawyer that it takes a minumum of 3 times to get approved. I was told about a quadroplegic that was denied twice before he got his SSDI. I ws denined once. Then I got mad  and sent off for all my medical records myself and hand delivered them to the case worker. She was REAL happy to get a folder that was 5 inches thick. I finally had to put them in a 3 ring binder. Mind you this was right after my amputation. The good thing about being put off is as long as you appeal the decision in the alotted time, when you do get approved you get the money from the first time you applied. Usually about 6 months worth or better.

Thanks for the tips on the cleaning of the OUTSIDE of the pan. I used papertowels but just couldn't seem to get it all. I even used a degreaser too and still there is some on it. I will try the windex next. Well, after wednesday anyway. I don't throw the oil away. I just put it back in the original tub that it came in so I can put a lid on it. I am gonna try the potato thing though!

Off to get the house picked up and do the little things like the litter box. Which with 3 cats isn't always a little thing!

Shawna, if it's an aluminum pan, you probably will never get it really clean because of the flame. If it were copper bottomed, you could use catsup or left over spaghetti sauce to make it shine like new.

I have a gas stove and it darkens my copper but not my s/s pots.

Well it's impossible to accomplish anything with the 20 month old here so here I sit! He's coming for a few hours tomorrow too so I'll get my full $25. for this week for him. Mom also doesn't have off as many weeks for school break as I thought so that's good too.

Dr. Bob, I had this long post of encouragement in dealing with Social Security and ZAP a loud clap of thunder. I jumped and hit the wrong key and lost the post.

Can't repeat my eloquent post, but in summary, Just keep applying and followup daily. Be sure your doctors complete their paperwork. I think it is their rule to deny a claim at least three times. ;) Perhaps they want to see if a person is serious.

Right down the street from me is a paralegal firm that specializes in disability claims. Perhaps look into something like that. SOMETIMES the process is greatly accelerated by using people who routinely do this kind of application. And paralegals have far cheaper fees than lawyers.

Dr. Bob, you mentioned in the past belonging to a Christian association whose members pray for and pay each other's medical bills. Will this not work at all in the future?
I know many people have an allergy to consulting attorneys, and I of course don't know if you have or not, but don't rely on anecdotes about losing the house if you go in the hospital for a week. You might have to make payments for years, but hospitals take small payments on large bills all the time. And they often routinely write off part of the bill for the non-insured. Find out from an attorney in this kind of field!

My mom was denied twice. Third time was the charm for her.

We had a good and busy day. Today was lessons, so it gets crazy around here from 2:00 until about 8:30 when I take the babysitters home. They stay and eat with us, so tonight we had Thanksgiving dinner with them. We had a small turkey roast; green beans; caulifower w/cheese, sour cream, bacon and chives; dressing and gravy, mac and cheese and a pecan ie (bought). Half of us are low carbing and half arent. But it was great. We really love those girls.

We just got done putting up our Christmas tree. We have always said we wouldn't put up a tree before Thanksgiving, but that was before we had to look into 4 big brown beautiful eyes so enthusiatic about Christmas. They were thrilled, and the tree is pretty. If it weren't for the air conditioner running, I might even feel a little Christmassy.

My piano ensemble concert will be in a week and half, and things are coming along pretty well. I have a few students who haven't really done their part in preparation, but hopefully they will get it done. We'll have 8 keyboards playing at once, and it sounds like an orchestra.

Well, gotta go take "thing two" as we call her to the potty. (potty training is sooooo fun.) Have a great night!

Well, I wasn't "turned down" for disability and medical help. I was so far down the list that I didn't qualify to be "turned down"!

I was amazed when I went in. They had tax records, bank statements, etc all from my SS number (all I had given a week ago).

Bottom line was if I could walk in and sit and talk with them, I was not "disabled". And in order to get on the medical program, I have to meet their definitions of disable. Ain't gonna happen.

It was a discouraging hour. The "if only" game - if only you were unable to earn 1 penny income. I said that could be arranged! Then "if only" your wife was not self-employed because you can help her and SHE gets benefit even if you do not so in a way you "earn". Well, I won't bore you with details.

I was seeking a door for help only in some future "catastrophe". For regular needs and daily bread, I thank God He is providing day by day. I just don't want to leave my wife without a house or savings or such.

One of the final "if only" thoughts was if I were 62 and penniless and no home and in the hospital until all my resources were gone, THEN the government could give me $810 a month.

Wow. By then I was praising God that His Word doesn't have a bunch of "if onlies" in it!

Have a good night. I'm going to bed humming "He's never failed me . . yet". And even in what I would think a catastrophe, HE WILL NEVER FAIL ME!

(unlike our stupid Social Security . . . )
