inject it with Cajun seasoning. My B-I-L uses it with melted butter. And the recommended oil for frying is Peanut Oil.

Hey yall! we had a long day of driving yesterday - it took about 12 hours to get here. Checked in at 1:30 this morning. But we are having a great time. DH is in his element. Dr. Bob, some of these guys infuriate him and others are spurring him on. he found a few that will benefit his dissertation. The girls and I are having a blast. Went up the tower of the Americas today, did the Riverwalk, and ate at an awesome Mexican restaurant. The 3 year old wanted to see the Alamo TODAY so we drove by it several times since her little legs had gone more than they culd take. we'll get the tour tomorrow or Friday.

Hope yall are doing well. Yall are making me hungry with all the turkey talk - and I just watched a guy prepare turkey and the works on the cooking channel.

    Check yall later!

Sounds like fun, Tater. I love San Antonio, but be careful after dark. There is a lot of crime even in the downtown area (mostly in parking lots surrounding it).

Envy your hubby being there, but I was getting more and more frustrated and less and less blessed, so gave up attending. Still have some colleagues from my teaching days that attend (and keep me informed as to what is happening.)

    Good morning all:

Jim: I have a Casio CTK 496. I can push a button and listen to Christmas songs without touching the keys. I love it. I haven't quite got the hang of all the buttons for the chords, tempos, and rhythms yet, but I am enjoying exploring it! I had given all my music books to one of my grandsons and am now trying to 'borrow' them back...

Tater: Glad you are all enjoying your trip.

Shawna: I have no clue what or HOW to season a deep-fried turkey. I am old-fashioned. I like the aroma of a turkey baking in the oven on Thanksgiving morning...

I was sick most of the afternoon and evening yesterday with IBS and a SC so I stayed in the recliner and away from the computer. I am feeling almost back to 'normal' this morning.

Brent has a dental appointment this morning to get another molar pulled and two cavities filled. We will be busy this morning trying to get his Paces done before we go to the dentist at 11:00. I doubt he'll feel like doing them later.

§ue (off to see what I missed on here yesterday)

    Good morning blackbird:

I don't need to know how to season a deep-fried turkey because I bake mine in the oven.

Shawna is the one who is seeking this information... [IMG]

Wally-world sells those Cajun injectors---along with injector recipes over in the cookware section----you can inject--even if you're bakin' the bird----injecting Cajun style will make "Aunt Bee" go sit down and swell up with jealousy!!!

See I'm with Sue. Stick that bird in the oven!

Well today is one of my busy days. That means at one time or another I'll have 7 children in my house today. And I wonder why I can't keep it as clean as I used to! I have the 20 month old until 11:15 or so. He's LOUD. I'm constantly shushing him. Ty thinks he's hollering (Ty's word) and will yell back. Jack can't really say anything but his mother's name, 'Annie'.

We are having to do our school work after Jack leaves and try to finish before I have the other kids back home on Tuesday and Thursday. I cannot take my eyes off Jack. He's watching The Wiggles with Ty and fighting over trains.

AWANA was neat again last night. Such sweet kids and the teens help me as listeners. We were missing some volunteers but we were down a few kids too. Seems like since the time change, people have dropped off. It's pitch black by then tho....

I really don't eat fried food tho Gayla. We make a BIG turkey and then I make soup stock from the leftovers. We'll eat turkey for weeks. LOL

I love cooking with peanut oil. The food tastes like food when it is done. Vegetable oil seems to drown the taste of food. I also like cooking with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
My husband gets a turkey for Thanksgiving from work. We never keep it. Donate it to the local food pantry. He usually hunts down our turkey. I love wild turkey. There is no fat on it. Just pure meat. It tastes so much better too.

I've only had wild turkey once and really disliked the taste. I think it's what you're used to. I also won't eat deer meat! YUK!!! LOL

I cook with peanut oil or virgin olive oil but we don't fry foods. We're having a stir fry tonight but it takes less than a tablespoon of oil at the MOST.

Back from the dentist. Brent is resting for a little while before resuming his school work. He had a molar pulled and two cavities filled. We go back for two more fillings and then we get to discuss braces!!! Yippee!?!

I have never tasted deep-fried turkey, but I've heard it is delicious. Maybe SHAWNA will save me a piece...

(AP) In 2002, more than 5700 home fires with considerable physical or property damage were attributed to deep frying turkeys during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season.

Most were the result of cooking inside a garage or on a deck, where combustible materials caught fire.

    There were also 13 deaths . . .

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, friends, you ain't getting this home boy NEAR a propane fryer. Traditional baked bird at the Griffin home . .

I saw something about that too, Dr. Bob. I'm with you!

Poor Brent! That's a lot going on at once. Had he not been to the dentist before, Sue? Nick had a mouthful of cavities at 4 or 5 because of apple juice. I hope he never has any more! We got the sealants too. His 12 year molars are trying to come in already! Nick needs braces too but I was told by a second dentist to wait until his final molar was in so there was something to glue the braces to. He just has an overbite on top.

We stopped long enough for lunch but have to do school work later in the day when Jack (20 months old) is here and then we went to the barber shop. It's $6.00's for a kid on Thursday. Just got Ty down for his nap and have 1 hour til time to leave and pick up the 4 kids.

I'm excited! Next week will be a 'vacation' of sorts for me. Ty won't come until just before 8:00 Mon-Wed. until 5:00. The sisters will come Tues. and Wed. but LONG days. The brother and sister will come about 2:00 on Mon-Wed. I have off Thursday through Sunday!

Okay, who's going to decorate for Christmas this coming week?

Yes, Diane. I have taken Brent to the dentist three times now for cleaning, extractions, fillings, and sealants. Just one more visit to go before we discuss braces (for an overbite).

His 12-year-old molars are ready to come in also. Kids must be growing faster today!?!

Brent drinks fruit juice, but I dilute it half and half with water. He drinks diet Coke once a day. I make Kool-Aid with Sweet 'n' Low for him and he drinks milk at most meals.

He starts basketball practice at the Rec Center this Saturday. He is very excited about being on a team! He couldn't take advantage of any activities like that until after his surgery.

I am going to see about getting him on a Junior Bowling League also. I don't want him to forgo things like that because he is home schooling.

Oh that should be fun! The sports I mean and not the braces. LOL! They're building a bowling alley not far from us and Nick has bowled with the home schoolers. He'd probably love to join a league too.

We've cut the juices WAY down. We had given Nick juice in the middle of the night. He didn't begin to sleep straight through until he was 6 years old! He drinks milk almost all the time now.

The dentist said fruit juices would be fine if diluted them and I could either dilute the Kool-aid or make it with artifical sugar.

We aren't large enough to have a home schooling group here, so I am finding things for him to do elsewhere.

I thought about Cub Scouts and FFA also, but maybe not until next year. We still have to work around the paper routes...

I am giving up the out-of-town paper route January 1st and just keeping the one in town. Hubby doesn't like me getting up at 3-4 on the week-ends. With just the one, I can sleep in until 5 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday!!!
