It is snowing very bad here now. It is also very cold. I know we will have a White Christmas.

We didn't get out of church until just before 1:00 and then we ran over to a Mexican Restaurant and ate. When we came out, it was snowing! It didn't last or stick but Nick was thrilled! He had great plans for snowmen and snowball fights. LOL

I got a lot of nice Christmas presents from our Sunday School kids today. They really put some thought into the presents. I'm impressed!

No snow to-day, but it sure is cold at -39cel with the northern wind chill factor.

    Cheers,

We're to get more flurries overnight. It's 23° now but the wind chill is 3°!! NO ONE is out!

I feel so very sorry for the poor who live in the old timey trailers. There's many in this area that are covered with tarps to keep out the rain, plastic on windows or cardboard where glass used to be. Praying they can keep warm and safe. So many die when it gets cold and they try to heat with kerosene heaters or small electric heaters.

It's cold here too. Right about 32 degrees when we came in a few minutes ago.

We had our 'first' Christmas today, with T's family. It was his mother's wish that we all went to church with her this morning. Good thing she didn't wish for us to all be on time. Son woke up with a temp of 101.8 this morning. Getting his fever down while getting 5 people ready for church took some time. We stepped into church just as the first hymn was being sung. Glad it was all folks that knew us and knew that I'm not particularly punctual. [IMG]

It was a good day in spite of everything. The restarant we went to was not so busy that we had to wait a long time with 5 kids. The food was good. Opening presents back at T's parents, for what we expect to be the last time, was nice. I recieved two very nice cookbooks for my collection.

Hope everyone else has as nice a day.

We had a good Sunday - hope yall did too. Immediately after church, we loaded up the childrens choir and went to Burger King before doing our musical at the nursing home. Our WMU did shoeboxes filled with goodies for all the residents, too. They were thrilled. One woman got her eyes full, though, when she took an old man his box. [IMG]
Then we came home for about an hour, with a teenage stowaway. Went back to church to skeleton crowd. Seems like the Catholics fill the church at Christmas and we Baptists clear it! Alot of family parties were going on today, though.
well, back to mu hot tea and spoon of peanut butter...

Most liturgical folks get their spiritual identity from attending church on Christmas/Easter. They would fear going to hell if they missed.

So it is not unusual to see lots of extra activity, mass, services, at those churches this time of year. And lots of attempts to REACH OUT to this mind-set at our Baptist churches by cantatas, programs, carol sings, etc.

(And thank God for visitors! At our little church on the prairie we were missing two "regular" families (10 people). But two other families were visiting and so we had about the normal attendance!

We went caroling after church tonight. We had about 20 people go. We stopped a 4 houses. I wish we could carol every night. They would sit on their porches and sing right along with the carolers. Many will never be able to get out of their homes again. A great way to minister to the shut-ins.

Popping in to say good night.

We had our 'first' Christmas, after church, today. There were 9 of us here chomping down on the goodies. Gifts were exchanged and a nice time was had by all!

Everyone left around 6:00 and I hit the recliner and fell asleep! I just woke up long enough to go to bed. ;)

    Pleasant dreams all!

Children's musical went well. At the last minute we added some shepherds to the scene on the baptistry platform. Joseph's beard started to slip toward the end, but the sweet song about giving Jesus your heart for Christmas left many teary-eyed, I heard. Folks were taking pictures, and I was told afterward that many folk who do not normally come out were there to see a child, grandchild, niece, nephew, etc. Including a Catholic nun and some Jehovah's Witnesses. When we were through, the gospel was preached, and I pray many hearts touched. God is good! Those reports make it worthwhile.

Of course, the little dears were absolutely rotten afterward when they were brought downstairs during the sermon. Tried to have them eat popcorn and watch the Christmas story video, but that ended up with more popcorn on the floor than in their tummies. So we split up the age groups and did some crafts. At least the little ones calmed down.

Now I am looking forward to Christmas Eve, where a drama has been planned, as well as a candlelight service. The best part is, I have nothing to do but show up! Be able to sit with DH in the service. What a blessing!

Well, it is not entirely me. It seems the scanner doesn't want to recognise the computer or the other way round. I wanted to post Jim's picture. I think I will have to wait til Sam wakes up(another 3-4 hours) and ask him to sort it.

    Good morning all:

18º with a windchill of -3º. This afternoon = 30-40mph winds with snow, sleet, freezing rain, and ice. ALL AT THE SAME TIME!

It will be SO much fun delivering the papers. NOT!

Coffee sure smells good in here this morning and the Christmas doughnuts are delicious!

Sue! We've got you BEAT! It's 12° with 21 MPH wind gusts and a wind chill below zero. Brrrr.. No ice, snow or sleet tho!

Ty's mom only has to work 32 hours the next two weeks so he's coming just before 8:00 a.m. each day. I get to sleep in! Of course, Jim has to leave for work before 6:00 a.m. and he is NOT a quiet person.
