Jim1999, I believe I read that it is being outlawed in some states as cruelty to animals. I'm pleasantly surprised that Patches seems to have no need to scratch on the furniture.

The trouble with cats is that they each have different personalities. We live next to a highway, and our cats have always been inside because they would be dead outside.
I tried not declawing them. But with one cat in particular, he was normally a very placid, peaceful fellow. But NOTHING stopped him from shredding and I mean shredding wallpaper, furniture, and book bindings. Spray bottles, clapping, all the usual methods. He would sneak out at night to extend a claw up and down book bindings. I sneaked out at night a number of times to catch him. [IMG]
But it didn't stop him. He was then declawed at two years old, and did fine, living happily inside till almost 15. I figured declawing was less cruel than getting rid of him.

Also, there is more than one method of declawing. The method the vet uses here is not the more extensive method that is often complained about.

I'm going to bed folks. I don't know if I'll have to work on the corner tomorrow or not. A lot of schools have already been canceled because of the snow/rain/sleet/ice storm. We shall see...

    Pleasant dreams all!

Sounds like the weather is getting nasty where you are, Sue. If you do have to go out stay warm, we don't want you sick again.

It has been quite a long day here as well. Son has enjoyed his birthday, the cough that kept Precious home today is better and Bitsy isn't to upset at the idea of surgery even though we have explained it fully to her. On that note, as soon as Son's friend get picked up, I believe I will head to bed as well.

    Night, night!

We had very little scratching of the furniture until Ishe (pronounced Izzy) became a member of the family. He taught the other cats bad things - so they all lost their front claws - Ishe first!

We are supposed to get between 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice.

I went for a wild ride this AM on the way to work! I did a 180 and went into the median back-wards - coming to rest straddling ditch. Driver and truck both OK - thank the Lord. I went back to equipment management (after the tow truck pulled me out) and the truck was in fine shape. It happened so fast - I didn't have time to get scared - or get my heart beating fast.

A kind gentleman saw it all happen - stopped to make sure I was OK - called 911 and talked to the State Police (I never did see them). I EM on my cell phone - and within an hour or so - I was out of the ditch - and on my way - though in the opposite direction from when I started the trip.

    Wow, Dan, Glad you're OK.

I cant believe yall are still talking about CATS!!!

I had a productive day today. Cleaned house, had a picnic w/the girls, taught 5 piano lessons, taught the youth at church and led choir practice. Oh, and I wrote a song today, too. Tomorrow will be just about as full - Jazzercize in the morning, then take the girls to ballet, straighten house, teach 8 lessons, then have dinner for our babysitters. (They are two sisters who are like family to us, and they stay and eat with us on piano lesson day)
So, I think I'm gonna go ahead to bed a little early tonight.
    Have a great day yall!

Well, the last of the kids and grandkids boarded the plane (hour late) and still made connection in Denver for LA. Guess the plane THERE was an hour late, too.

Son Jeremiah is out of the hospital in Evanston and hopefully on the road home tomorrow. Appreciate your prayers.

We are alone again, with only a fridge full of unrecognizable leftovers as a memory.

And the peanut butter bread I found in my printer.

I have to ask Dr. Bob how did that peanut butter get into your printer? LOL I have nephews and they stuck a fork in the VCR and then they took the bathroom towels and shoved them in the toilet and flushed. LOL I am glad I am not their mother.

We thought something was wrong with one of our vcrs and my hubby bought a cheap new one to replace it. Well, just the other day he took it out to replace it and heard some clanging. My 2 yr old had put a battery that he took out of one of his toys and put it in there! He is such a handful! But at least it's not broke like we thought, and we have a new vcr in it's box for when we do need it. LOL

    Good morning all:

I am looking out the window at 1/2 inch of ice underneath about an inch of snow. It ought to be fun trying to open the frozen doors and scraping the ice off of all the car windows. NOT!

I am taking Oreo to the Vet's after the 'corner' this morning. I will pick him up Saturday. I was going to pick him up Saturday morning, but am going to pick him up Saturday afternoon instead, after all 10 boys attending Brent's birthday party leave. I think it will be much easier on Oreo that way!

Dr.B. Glad your son is all right and on his way home! Isn't it quiet to the point of distraction after everyone leaves???

The house looks boring with no Christmas decorations up! Oh well, almost time to decorate for Valentine's Day...

That topic is more heated than debating the KJV and twice as humorous.

    Dan-glad you're okay. [IMG]

Dr. Bob-we have child proofed our home. We simply scream NO!NO!, nO?-No-no!

Morning all! My phone has rung almost constantly since I woke! Had a family needing child care for an infant and a toddler RIGHT THAT MINUTE and in their home so looked up some phone numbers for them but said 'no thanks'. Been on the phone with our daughter for an hour at least. She has off today.

It's raining here and low 50's. Still don't have our heat turned on tho.

Hubby broke the ice scraper trying to clean the windows. He almost broke the door handle trying to open the door - solid ice. Oh how I wish I had a garage!

It was very cold and windy on the corner this morning. All you could see of me was my eyes. [IMG]

This is the kind of day I love to just stay indoors where it's nice, comfy, and warm, but no such luck with the corner and the papers.

Oreo is at the Vet's and they will call me when his surgery is finished. He was so pathetic this morning - couldn't understand why I wouldn't give him any food or water. :(

Home schooling now and then a bit of picking up around the house before company comes this evening.

    HAGD!

Sue, I hope Oreo makes it OK - let us know how he is later.

Yes, this is a good day to stay in and curl up under a quilt. No such luck, as I am at my computer in downtown Philly. Rainy and miserable here. But I guess that beats snow and ice.

Just checking in at lunch time here. I'm so thankful it's not icy and cold here! Of course, I don't have to go out either.

Hope Oreo does fine but am sure he will.

I think Patches has allergies. He sort of cough / sneezes once every few days like Dubbs used to and Dubbs had allergies. Once Patches sneezes... that's it for days. Of course, with such long hair, he may have a hairball or even a hair caught in his throat.

So, I was going to leave out all my snowmen and just put away the true Christmas things but decided to go ahead and pick all those up too. I have LOTS of snowmen! I haven't even gotten near the big tree to take it down and have stacked all my other Christmas things in my bedroom waiting for the boxes to be brought up from the storage room in the front of our garage. Everything's picked up now except my porcelain nativity and the big tree. Now to put the regular things back!
