Thank you for your concern Sister
Daugher GrannyGumbo. We are iced-in in Oklahoma.
But at least we got back to Oklahoma before the
ice (Some fans in Florida for the Orange
    bowl haven't gotten
    back yet [IMG] )

Oreo is out of surgery and is doing just fine. He is getting ready to eat lunch.

They fell in love with him at the Vets. He IS a sweetie! [IMG]

    Thanks, Sue. Good job, Oreo!

Cute drawing, Diane. I guess we longhair owners forgot to tell you about hairballs....
My Creampuff once hacked up one that was six inches long! You gotta brush them once in a while.

It is cold, snowy and icy today. First I woke up to snow. Now it is raining and icing up. All the schools are closed down here today. We have some strange weather here this year. They say next week will be in the 50's.

Schools are closed here today. We had lots of rain that turned to ice. Supposed to be 50 and sunshine on Saturday.

I did have a longhaired cat in the 70's but had forgotten about hairballs. I'm guessing that might be what's bothering Patches because she'll do a little choke type cough then swallow a few time, lick her nose and that's it. She's had her shots they SAID but I'm calling the vet who did her surgery to verify anyhow. They've been closed for the long holidays.

Ed! People were asking all over the board about you and the wife! I had written before the end of the year, Betty responded when you got home but I didn't write her back since she had 1,400 emails! I figured she'd rather I not add to them!!! YIKES! Glad you had such a wonderful time and are safe!

I went down to get the mail in just my turtleneck shirt and wasn't chilled at all. It's 54° and still drizzling. What a change from the last few days tho!

For anyone considering declawing a cat, this is a must read. My final thought on the subject, but it is a very painful and serious surgery..it is am amputation!

    Cheers,

    Jim

Bitsy is having a bad year! We found out yesterday that she has to have her tonsils out. Today we find that she needs glasses! What next? No, I take that back, I don't wanna know...

Diane, I bet the family who called you this morning wanting in house care will be calling you back pretty soon wanting to bring them to you. Unless they're made out of money, good inhouse care is extremely hard to find. It's even harder if they expect housecleaning to come along with the childcare.

Sue, does Oreo get a lollypop for being good at the doctor? When will you be able to bring him home? Hopefully before the vets staff has time to spoil him completely.

Well off to Wallyworld to find Bitsy some glasses.....

Well I checked today and Patches didn't get a Rabies shot with her other shots and spaying but the vet who did the other will give her the shot and not charge for a 'well visit' since I got her from the animal shelter. It's a Georgia law that all animals must have a rabies shot. She can give Patches the shot tomorrow at 11:00 in Carrollton.

The people who called today are a Christian ministry couple who are out of state more than in state and they take the children with them. They had something to film today and the person who usually sits had to cancel. They wouldn't be a regular job. In fact, some of you may know them. It's Nathan and Kathy Dorrell and here's their website. www.crazytieguy.com

Nick needs braces for an overbite. The dentist gave us a referral over a year ago but he doesn't have his 12 year molars all the way in yet. One baby molar remains. He has nothing to brace on to...... His eyes have only been checked through his pediatrician and he's never had a headache.

Well I MUST iron tonight so Jim has pants for tomorrow. Everything is washed and ready to be done, tho. [IMG]

Jim: That is no longer true. The claws are excised - nothing is amputated. The other mode is outdated. There is no pain because the cat is asleep.

MK: Oreo didn't get a lollipop, but he got a 'catnip' toy, to bring home, which I'm sure he'll love! They all love him out there and are spoiling him...

He is up and walking around just like he was before he had surgery. I could bring him home Saturday morning, but since I'm having nine boys over for a birthday party at noon, I'm picking him up Saturday afternoon - after the boys leave.

Bitsy failed her school vision screening back in October, I guess. I've been dragging my feet about getting her an appointment because my insurance changed and our regular eye doctor isn't on it. I was trying to wait until they added her as she was the only one of our doctors not on the new list. Well it never happened so I went ahead and took the kids into a doc that was on the list.

The other two had nearly perfect vision.

I don't want to think about how much I spent today. Our insurance co-pays have gone up and then the price of glasses.....life is way to expensive!

Nick is lucky to just have one baby tooth left. Precious is 12 and still has baby molars left. She is going to need braces as well, but our dentist doesn't send the kids for braces until all their permanent teeth are in. She is one of the few though. The trend around here is to brace the front teeth early and then rebrace them if the molars move them back out of place. Doesn't make sense to me, but apparently some people don't mind paying to have the same job done twice.

No ironing for me until morning! :D The mean mother in me has already taught Precious and Son how to iron. Bitsy is to young. [IMG] ;)

I believe the Dorrell's came to our church a couple of years ago for a VBS kickoff. Or maybe it was the church that Bitsy's best friend used to attend. One or the other, I'm not good at remembering things like that.

Now that I think about it, I think the dogs are about due for their shots as well. Something else to spend money on. I'm going to have to start working again.

Who needs a dress made? [IMG]

I've seen SO many 8 year olds with braces! Makes no sense to me! Nick's teeth don't look bad at all. You can see, from the side, that the upper teeth are out a little....

Now, here's a new one on cat operations---I try my level best to be at all operations my church members have---in the hospital---an operation at the doctor's office---proceedures as lower and upper GI's excluded---but don't sit in front of your computer screen and insist that Blackbird hold your hands during a kat operation!!! [IMG]

Speakin' of cats---I heard of an old farmer who had a German Shepherd dog---the dog suddenly died and so the farmer rushed it to the vet--to see what he could do

"You've got to do somethin', Doc!!"

The vet goes into the back room and comes back with a little house cat----he holds the cat above the dead dog---back and forth over its entire body---wavein' it in front of the dog's face---finally the vet says

"Yep! Its true! Your dog is dead!! Now, that will be a $125 dollar charge!!"

The farmer looks at the vet

    $125 dollars??? What for???"

"Well, twenty five dollars for the doctor's visit---and one hundred for the "Cat Scan!" [IMG] [IMG]

We know Nathan Dorrell, too. We were appointed thru NAMB with him back in '95. Great fella.

All yall talking about how cold it is - please send some our way!! I had to run the air conditioner today! Isnt that crazy?

We had a good day here. The girls went to ballet (first time for the youngest). I had a really busy day, too, and then tonight when I was eating the last of my peanut butter, I reached out to grab the jar, and a SLUG was sitting on the side of it! I screamed (he was slimy!) and DH thought something was wrong. Well, it was! Ruined my last taste of peanut butter!! Shoulda fed him to the turtle (the slug, not DH), but didnt think about it til DH had already salted him. Oh well.
