Morning all, another sinus headache. ug...

Sue, my only problem with Patches is that she'll eat things on the floor. A little piece of Christmas decoration, etc. Not sure what she ate today. It was under the computer desk and I tried to get it out of her mouth. Cut my finger on her sharp tooth. Didn't hurt tho. She swallowed whatever it was.

Oreo does the same thing and he 'bats' at everything! LOL. There goes the rest of my hanging ivy...

I am going to start using a 'spritz' bottle. It doesn't hurt them and does eventually get through to them.

Whatever Patches ate today sounded crunchy like a plastic tie or something. Hope it 'works itself out'! He still sleeps ALL night in our bed. She moves only when one of us gets up. She'll move closer to Jim when I get up for Ty. I get BACK in bed after Ty is asleep, Jim gets up so she moves to my side. Again, I was up before she got up.

I'm taking it easy for a while this morning while the aspirin takes over.

    Good morning everyone!

It is a wonderful, very quiet morning here. The kids are all back in school. :D Of course I don't know how long that will last because Bitsy is still feeling bad. I have another call into the doctor to see what to do this time. I have a feeling that an appointment to the ENT will be our next move.

Today is bill paying day, :( and several of them have to be paid in person, so I will be out most of the day. I have to wait on the doctor to call first. I wish they would hurry. I figure the school will be calling and I'd like to get the running around done before I have to pick Bitsy up.

    Ya'll have a fine day!

Here is a better picture of Oreo. He is getting used to us now and he likes MY recliner!...

The decorations on the lampshade are the ones I printed out on card stock and Brent colored them with his markers. There are different ones all around the shade. Looks pretty at night with the lamp on.

    Cute kitty, Sue.

Do we need to get Blackbird one of those styrofoam deer targets to take out his aggression?
    Threatening a poor, helpless little kitty . . .

Oh you dog lovers are just jealous because we have loving pets that don't make giant mounds in our yards, stick like skunks and sniff ....

Oreo is gorgeous. Patches has already been 'fixed' so no kittens here and her hair is LONG. Wish she wouldn't eat odd things that get dropped. Guess I'd better do a better job vacuuming!

Oreo has an appt. at the Vets Thursday morning to get neutered and have his front claws removed (saves on furniture).

He will stay there until Saturday.

I'm having six boys over Saturday for Brent's birthday. All I can think of to play is 'Pin the Tail on the Donkey' which I have to make yet...

Any other suggestions for games that aren't 'too' rowdy?

Sue, the animal shelter here makes us sign a paper saying we will not declaw a cat. So far Patches has only hinted at clawing and a light clap of my hands and she stops.

Hmmm.... I made a pin the nose on the snowman game out of white poster board. The kids liked that and it was a lot easier than a donkey. LOL.

There's a game where you wrap a goody or a dollar bill in a box, larger box, larger box, etc. and it's passed around to music (like musical chairs) and as the music stops, the boy gets to unwrap one layer. The person who gets the last box, gets the goodie. It can even be a bag of candy to share.

The boys could make something too. To take home. Suncatchers out of those AOL discs, paint rocks for 'pets', use straws and a ping pong ball and try to blow the ball off the table sort of like ice hockey. How about hints to find hidden goodies? "I'm small and round and low to the ground. Something green can be seen in me." (Flower pot) Clues could lead from number 1 to 10 with the last one telling where candy is found. If you could go outside, a pirates chest could be buried with maps made from brown paper bags, wadded up, ripped and burned around the edges with an X marks the spot. You can make a treasure chest cake too. I did that for Scott once. Goodies can be the 'gold coins' of gum or chocolate.

Hi all! Spent the day going up and down the elevators in the Criminal Justice Building with my fellow prospective jurors. Got put on two panels, only to be dismissed before the lawyers had a chance at us. So that means I'm done until they call me again, usually in six months or more. Still got my 9 bucks. Can you believe it? Nine dollars is all the City of Philadelphia pays for one day on jury duty. But my employers will pay me anyway, so that's not so bad. I feel sorry for the folks who don't work who have to come in to town, pay parking or bus fare, and buy lunch, and all they get is 9 bucks. And it's taxable!

Sue, I really don't agree with declawing. BUT, if you're going to do it, please do whatever you can to keep the little one from ever getting outside. Claws can be the only real defense from a predator like a dog, or other wildlife.

Diane, wow! All you have to say to a teacher is "What can I do?" and see what answers you get! [IMG] You can plan my next kids party! LOL

Well, back to work tomorrow. The non-working jury duty was sort of a vacation. At least for my brain. [IMG]

    Evening everyone!

I have a bad case of the sleepies and may just head to bed soon. I have to get up early tomorrow and take Bitsy to the doctor. I hope this one can figure out what is wrong with her and why she isn't getting better. She only made it till ten this morning before the school was calling me to come and get her. She hasn't done much since she got home except sleep, lay around and whine.

Tomorrow is Son's birthday. Thanks to the dirtbike, I'm getting out of doing a party. I'll have his best friend over to do cake(I hope) in the evening and I bought cupcakes for his class to share. Son thinks he already has his present(dirtbike gear and a video game) but I have a suprise he's not expecting. [IMG]

Well, the kids are whining so I best get them put to bed. See ya later!

Debbie says, "Claws can be the only real defense from a predator like a dog(Blackbird will stop right here)

Sooooooooo! You are pointin' accusin' fingers at dogs, huh?? Predators??

Blackbird dares you to look Lassie straight in the eye and say that!!!

Cats are predators---so which skillet is callin' the kettle black??????

And Menagerie---why don't you fill Blackbird and Gib in on exactly who this "Bitsy" is---is it a person, place, or thing??

I only declaw the front paws and I NEVER let my cats go outside.

It saves on the furniture whether they're scratching it or jumping on it and using their front claws to hang on.

It also makes it much easier and safer when you bathe them and it saves your house plants too.

It keeps them from getting to/on a lot of places they aren't supposed to be anyway.

Well, I have a tummy ache and have been up since around 4:00 so I am going to bed.

    Pleasant dreams all!

All of our other cats had the fronts declawed either before we got them or soon after but we agreed and Patches is so good that it doesn't seem like we'll need to do it.

I'm feeling odd tonight. Sort of ill at ease... so I think I'll sign off early and relax. It's been hard for me to get back to getting up at 5:30 and trying to go back to sleep.

    Night all and God bless,
    Diane

And on top of all that---Diane says, "Patches is so good it doesn't seem like we need to do it!"

Blackbird needs to remind the lady folk---never point a gun at anybody---never, ever! And never, ever, no ever trust a cat!!! Patches is "pullin' the wool" over your eyes, Diane!!!!! Don't go to thinkin' you have the "Mother Teresa" of the feline variety!!!

Does the declawing process hurt the cat?

LOL, Blackbird! Sometimes it hard to keep up with people isn't it.

Just for you and Gib, well and anyone else who may have missed it, I have 3 kids. Precious is the oldest girl and is 12. Son is the only son and will be 10 tomorrow. Bitsy is the youngest girl and is 6(7 in Febuary).

Bitsy has been suffering with her sinus' since the first of November so I am really hoping this doc can put and end to it.

Sue, we declawed our last cat(before we had dogs) thinking it would keep her out of the trees that she would climb up and could not/would not climb out of. We had gotten quite tired of getting the neighbors laddar and dragging her out of whatever tree she got herself into and she invaribly did it while T was out of town. Declawing didn't help in the least. She would sneak out of the house when the kids opened the door and the next thing I knew she'd be back up a tree. Bad cat! The only thing declawing helped with is that it kept her from climbing the bamboo wallpaper that covers the downstairs hallway. We really kinda thought that was funny(guess you can tell I don't really like that wallpaper).

    Night Sue. Night Diane.
