Morning Sue. Boy, sorry to hear you're sick again! Be sure to see the doctor soon if you don't begin to feel better right away.

Looks like somebody in Georgia saw your post on 'silly laws still on the books'. Yesterday, Family Day, ....
The House used the special session to repeal a half dozen old Jim Crow laws, adopted during Georgia's segregation days. They included a provision allowing the governor to close public schools, thought to be a way to skirt desegregation orders.

That's what brought Leonard Tracy Green of Savannah and teenage members of his Capitol Leaguers of Savannah to the statehouse.

"This was a historical event taking place today," Green said. "We decided to travel to see this, the repeal of Jim Crow laws."

The Senate voted to repeal a handful of Sunday closing or "blue laws," including one prohibiting athletic events to take place or movies to be shown on Sundays without local permits.

It had been decades since any of the repealed laws had been enforced.

I've got some of my windows opened already.
Looking forward to a very warm afternoon here in Georgia. Gotta find my suntan lotion.

Jordan broke his finger at baseball yesterday. It's all black and blue and swollen. Oh the days of my youth.

Ouch Gib! Poor Kid. Did they put a splint on it?

Another busy Sunday. Jim's still at church. We have to be back for taping two puppet shows by 4:45 (set up by then...)

I had a blessing yesterday. I got to meet and have dinner with SALTCITYBAPTIST last night. I was out in his neck of the woods. We hooked up in Syracuse (the original salt city)and had dinner at Denny's. SSB over-achieved in the marital department but you didn't hear that from me.

Oh no, Sue! You can't be sick again! Bless your heart, your going have to come down south for a while and get healthy. You know though, once you get that old carpet replaced you may start feeling better. Carpet holds all sorts of stuff forever. If I were you, I'd get out of the house while they are taking up the old. As sick as you've been you don't want to be breathing the dust that will come out of it. You also don't want to see the underneath of what you've been living on for the last few years. Eeewww!

Gib, did you throw the ball that broke the poor kids finger? Come on now fess up!

Kids play so rough. At least it was his finger and not an arm or a leg.

Diane, it is beautiful here too. I've had to turn on the airconditioning today. We might could have done with just open windows, but then T's allergies get to bothering him. He is having enough problems healthwise at the moment.

We're having a slow day here. I woke up early not feeling well and so didn't go to church. I feel a little better now, but I'm still not really moving around. Much better to supervise the kids and let them what little needs doing. ;)

Hello all, I hope everyone has a great Lord's Day. We had a blessed service this morning and my new daughter McKylie was able to attend her first service and slept right through Daddy's sermon (guess she is preparing for adulthood)

Sorry Scarlett, I dont do naps .... but I will try to keep it down around here, but I will be watching basketball and nascar, so no promises

Don't I wish Scarlett! Right as I dozed off, my mother called and woke me up. It took me until almost 4 to fall asleep because the neighborhood children were looking for Nick and came one at a time. He was down on the corner with Warren and Ashleigh washing their moms car.
Next comes some kid selling the AJC door to door. Ug! No nap for me!

Good News!! Lockhead's Union is voting on the strike again and probably Mon. or Tues. That means the family I sit for who is in dire straights will be back to work. I'll be keeping the boy at least this week but if they get back to work, I'll have them both again so full pay. I will not have missed even one paycheck.

The family will have only lost a few days wages.

MK:
I thought about that since I've been sneezing my head off the last couple of days, but if I'm not here; will they put the new carpet on top of the dirt the old one left behind?

I really don't know because I have never had carpet laid by anyone except hubby and me. We've always scrubbed the floor before laying the new carpet.

I couldn't throw anything that hard and that far. I have learned over the years, when you're torturing your children, don't leave any bruises.

Most of that dirt will roll up in the old padding, at least that was my experience when we had Son's new carpet laid(I was the one who pulled up the old). There really wasn't anything left on the floor after that.

You can always request that they run a vacuum over the subfloor before they lay the carpet. I'm guessing that they sweep it beforehand anyhow.

You don't want to see the back side of the carpet however and then wonder just how you lived on something that had such yucky hidden stains or wonder just what had made them. We had only lived here a couple of years when we had his pink(yes pink) carpet replaced with something more manly for his birthday. To save money I pulled up the old myself. Eeeewwwww! I'm not going to be anywhere around when the rest of this stuff get pulled up. If I had my way about it the whole house would be tile or hardwood!

LOL Gib! I really didn't think you had but....with your attitude toward cats, one just never knows! ;)

Diane, I didn't get a nap either. On top of that I haven't even accomplished anything today. Bitsy better pray that I get to feeling better the next couple of days or she won't have a fancy Easter dress! I've been so tired feeling today. I try not to sew when I feel like this cause I end up making mistakes. I guess last week has caught up with me.

Thanks MK: I will request they do that and then I will leave and come back when it's all done. THAT will be a treat! Brent has Asthma so he doesn't need to be here either...

We just bought the house two years ago, but I'm sure this carpet has been on the floor for at least 20 years. You're right. I don't WANT to see what's under it...

Some of the really old carpets were glued down and those are hard to get up. Do you know if there's padding under it Sue? Are they putting down new padding too? I'd ask them to quickly vacuum for you. Maybe make a big pot of coffee and some breakfast goodies for when they arrive??

Gib, hope Jordan doesn't need surgery!

Well Jon's feeling MUCH better so we're guessing it was a sinus infection. The decongestant, however, has made his heart beat weird so no more of that! It was a 12 hour pill so won't be out of his system til around 2:00 a.m. It scares me but he won't go to the ER.

Well, I've got to leave you now and average grades for report cards. We start our standardized testing tomorrow also. My 4th graders are excited. They want to "top out". I tell them that I think they are the "tops" with or without the test.

They're so cute!!

Evenin' all! Its 11:23, and this is my first chance to sit down and relax all day. Sundays are always crazy around here. But we had two wonderful worship times today. We had a dinner after morning worship, and one man brought some TURTLE GUMBO. And there wasn't much left over either. Several of the men followed me around with a bowl and spoon trying to make me taste it. Yuck!! No Way!!!

Speaking of old carpet coming up, ours is starting tomorrow. The carpet in this house is the original stuff put down 30 years ago when the church built this house. It really doesnt look like its that old (at least on top), but it IS brown. We are gonna be sneezing for weeks, probably.

SUE, please get well!!! You gotta stop getting sick!!

Well, I am off to dreamland...

Well,

It would be easier for me to stop getting sick if the weather wouldn't change so drastically every two days. Just yesterday, we had a high of 81 and today the high was like 52. Who knows what the weather will be like tommorow. Hot. Cold. I don't care. Just pick one and go with it for a while.

Same here!! One the weather thinks its spring, then the next its still winter. No wonder everyone is still sick.

Joseph: Welcome to the CH! I agree with you about the weather! It was 72º one day last week. This morning it is 23º...

Good morning all:

Had a sleepless night, but not because of me.

Brent was up with a tummy ache and Grandpa had taken all the Peptol Bismol and forgot to write it down on 'the list' so I didn't buy a new bottle when I went to the store. All I had to give him were some "Tums".

I finally got back to sleep around 3:30 and woke up at 5:00 and Brent was up already and watching TV in the living room. He had his Math goals done for the day! At least, he seems to be feeling all right, at the moment.

Cruising,
