RE: "They used to instiutionalize harlots, unwed mothers, etc."

They did that in Canada too. Many times they were put into mental homes.

Yes, that's basically what these asylums were. They started out as asylums, meaning places of refuge for people not wanted or not acceptable for regular society.

Then they bacame places of refuge and "cure." Then places of refuge, cure, and study of the mentally ill.

These asylums were common all over the world. Some have closed as recently as the 1990's.

Babysat the three kids so son and his wife could go out for a "real date". Ah, young love.

Margo, you want to know what the problem is with your reaching 1000 at the same time as me? I've been here a whole year longer than you! I guess we know who likes to talk, don't we? :D

Goodness, I'm tired today! I've got the house about halfway recovered though. [IMG]

The sun is shining so bright here right now. I hate to think what kind of storms we'll end up with tonight.

See ya later, Son wants lunch!

If you don't like to talk out loud/in person, you communicate in other ways. Hence I post, chat, write letters, emails, poetry, stories, and novels . . . That's my way of cumminication for the most part. [IMG]

MW, I too spend a great deal of my time writing things. For the most part, I communicate best in print. But, I have been known to talk. Well, I guess I would have to having been a preacher, eh? LOL ;)

Yeah, I've been known to talk to. It happens. Especially when I'm with my siblings and close friends.

I'm fond of telling people I am in all ways always the same and always different. I confuse myself so much. My life would make a good satirical novel. [IMG]

Hi folks. Haven't posted here before - to be honest, haven't posted a lot anywhere. Mostly read discussion threads and post in the games forum. It's a typical Colorado day with snow in the morning and some clearing this afternoon. But you never know what's going to happen. Spring will make it here but it'll take time. Hope everyone's having a good day.

Well it looks like our rain is over for the night. I hope it's nicer tomorrow. Makes it hard for Jim to work.

I took aspirin and an hour nap so I'm not hurting right now. I'm looking forward to bedtime tho with some NyQuil to stop some of these annoying symptoms. I'll have a new Gaither DVD to watch in bed. [IMG]
