I'm wondering how much more Viv is going to have to pay this week to drive there two extra days. She's already filling up 2x weekly. I may have her take the Sonata and leave me the Lumina those days. I'm not going anywhere anyway, and the tires on the Lumina are shot.

Well, remember all of this and when you vote hold your lawmakers to account for a rational energy policy. Naturally, what I consider a rational energy policy. LOL
I was part of a small oil company for a long time. My husband was 4th generation. We, like so many others in OK, left it and went on.
We lost a LOT when oil was $5 to $15 a barrel for so long, and the price of gas was cheap.
The lift price of oil in OK is well above $15 and has been for years. Even at $67 barrel / oil, wells don't come back on easily in OK. Many of them were plugged. Equipment is scarce. Skilled workers left years ago. Sometimes it takes 5-6 months waiting time to service a well.
People were happy with $10 oil outside of oil-producing areas, but a stable longterm price of $25-35 would have been much better for everybody. Many towns around here are still ghost towns from the effects of that wonderful $10 oil.

We need to build refineries, we need to drill for domestic oil, and we need to provide tax incentives for alternative transportation and energy sources. We don't need to treat oil companies as the enemy or involved in some big conspiracy. If they were, the price of oil would never have crashed in 1986. It would have been a lot more than it is now, a long time ago, and it would have stayed there.
I'm not blaming any of you, I'm just venting.

    Karen

    Hey everyone!

I've been back at the doctor's all morning, this time with Bitsy. She keeps complaining of a stomach and back ache, but never has a fever. Doc is sending off for a urine culture, but really thinks that this is reflux. She says they are seeing more and more of it in children. :(

Son was a little hesitant about school today, but made it through the day just fine! Came out smiling and still painfree. [IMG] We even brought home his best friend for the first time in at least two weeks(maybe more, cause he hasn't swum in the pool yet). Son had been telling me he just didn't feel like having company, so this is a good indicator of how much better he is.

We're taking an afternoon off from outside activities. Sort of anyway. With an extra kid it is kinda noisy in here. They'd be outside but we're in the midst of an afternoon thundershower. I hope it doesn't last long, cause I'm not getting anything done with them inside. And I have a lot to do. You couldn't walk through the house when I got back yesterday, Bitsy's glasses were missing, and evidently someone's arms were broken because the dogs hadn't been fed and the some of the guinea pigs didn't have water. No excuse for that as the piggies are right in the living room in plain view!

    Ya'll have a good afternoon.....

Karen, you are so right. I can remember when my dad had to plug wells. Perfectly good wells. I never could understand that.

I thought my brother would get more money because of the increase in gasoline prices, but he said "no way".

MK, sorry about Bitsey. Glad that Son is better. Praying that all you children will be well at one time.

Think I'll take a nap. I'll check back later.

I just had a delightful nap! I don't get to take them when Brent is here. I'd probably still be napping, but I woke up with bad cramps in my toes.

I got all of my errands done this morning and it was very muggy outside. Diet Vanilla Coke was on sale so I loaded up on it.

The lawn needs mowed, but not sure if we can afford gas for the mower...

None of my neighbors have mowed either. [IMG]

We've had such a severe drought this summer that the grass just doesn't grow very fast and most of it has turned brown. YUCK!

    Pleasant dreams all!

Gib, Who was protesting, you or the grass? [IMG] ;)

Sue, should hubby be mowing grass so soon after the surgery? (But somebody had to do it, right?)

The only gas price I noticed tonight was $2.47 on the low end.

Karen, I agree that we need more refineries. But, no one wants to hear my political views, so I'll keep them on the political forum if'n I says anything at all...LOL

MK...I'm praying for ya'll..Seems like your family is having it's share of health issues this year, too.

Sue, ain't those toe cramps a pain in the...foot! ;) Thought I was going to say something else, didn't you?

Gibbers, I can't mow my lawn. It's nearly 2 acres, and I can't push mow it by myself, especially with my asthma. Viv and I are going to try and push mow some tonight, but we really need to get our two riders fixed, especially the newer one. But, with our money gone for traveling back and forth to GA for Viv's mom's illness and then funeral, and with the fall of the value of her stock and 401K, we just can't. We may have to borrow from the 401K just to make the next two house payments because of the rise in the gasoline prices. We're looking for and praying for a smaller car for her to use.

Gas did DROP 4 cents yesterday here. But, that doesn't help much considering it rose 31 cents in three weeks.

    Morning all:

It was a bit cooler here this morning, but very muggy. There are storms moving this way, and it's supposed to get back into the mid to upper 90's again. YUK!

Last night at church I went with the full intention of resigning as acting pastor. There was a bit of a struggle going on there in the study class, but I had to take a Biblical stand against some things a deacon was teaching improperly. I tried not to be "confrontational" but firm. I told those in the class if they didn't have confidence in me as their pastor, I couldn't stay. I also refused to revoke the license of the former pastor until the church could hear the WHOLE matter from my own mouth. I've talked to both sides and gotten pretty much what the truth was. It was hashed out last night, and the church is going to take a second vote. If they vote to rescind the brothers license, I will have to leave because it would be being done in vengeance and not love. I made that clear, and so, there is going to be a vote soon. Most now understand the situation and are wanting to change their vote to let the license stand. I say PRAISE THE LORD to that!
I tried for a reconcilliation in the church between the split and those who stayed, but the damage has been done. I started educating those who did stay last night on the facts of the issue and how things were misconstrued and had gotten out of hand. Reconcilliation is not possible at this time, and I believe the split is forming a new church, but there is a healing already starting. Hard feelings are being dropped in the prayer meetings, and recovery is on the way thanks to the Lord and prayer. Both churches love each other and will work in co-operation if all works out. I thank the Lord for that, also. I got a vote of confidence from two of the deacons, including the one who had misconstrued some things last night, and the meeting lasted until almost 10pm...way past Viv's bedtime. But, she saw things change, not because of me, but because of the Lord. When someone will actually stand for the Word of God and explain it, many times, things can change in an instant, and it seems like that is what is happening here. I praise the Lord for this also.

I had forgotten how draining being a pastor can be, even on an interim basis. But, I love these people, and they seem to love us and want to learn Biblical doctrine and grow from where they've been. It's been a very humbling experience for me.

I hope all is well with everyone on the boards.

God bless and have a wonderful day!

    T

    Good morning all:

Tony, Dale went back to work last week. We get our first paycheck today - since the 1st of July! Woo hoo!!!

Another hot, muggy, foggy, morning with a chance of severe thunderstorms. Rain is forecast through Saturday so it doesn't look like the roof will get done again this week end.

I now have FIVE buckets sitting on the sun-porch to catch the leaks and Brent can't come back from Kansas until we have a dry week end so Bobby (Pastor Bob's son) can come up to fix the roof and bring Brent with him.

I have to make a trip to Wally World today and I think I'm going to do it early before the temp rises and the rain starts.

    Cruising,

    Good Morning, everyone.

Ed's trip to the doctor didn't take as long as we thought, but he is not feeling well.

So I'm not sure what I'm doing with my day. I do need to work on the dog painting that my groomer ordered. Maybe I'll do that while Ed rests.

I'm going to start taking Celebrex. Has anyone else around here tried that for pain?

    See you all later.

Goooooooooooooooooooood afternoon. A little bit cooler here today, though still humid. [IMG]

Thankful, that is neat that you paint. I have an aunt and a cousin who do--but that talent didn't seem to come to my part of the family. One of my sisters draws pretty well, though I don't think she'll really do anything much with it.

    Hi MW.

Thankful: I would love to be able to paint, but I can't even draw! My painting talents lie in painting concrete lawn ornaments and plaster house decorations, plus t-shirts, sweat-shirts and sweat-pants. I am good at detail, but there has to be something there for me to paint. LOL

One of the very first jokes I can remember my dad telling me was:

What has four wheels and flies?

    A garbage truck!

Try not to fall out of your chair, but I just made this one up. What has one leg and flies?

a motorcycle-I know, it's hard to contain yourself.
