COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #87

Evening all:

Tony asked me to post this for him.
Please let everyone know that I'm doing OK. I underwent the laser scope and another lithotripsy but they got the stone to bust up. Part of it DID backwash into my left kidney, but he went up and lasered it to pieces small enough to pass. I have a stent in and will have it until Monday. I'm totally miserable with this thing. I guess I'll just have to live with the pain for now. It could have been far worse. They weren't going to let me go home because my blood pressure wasn't high enough, but that made me mad, and it went higher.

I won't be posting for a few days. Hopefully I will be sleeping some from this pain medication. Viv's taking off more time from work. Hope that doesn't hurt her job and her chances to move up. I've been such a burden on her that way and it irritates me to see her have to take day after day off because of my illnesses. I couldn't have had a better woman cross my path and marry me.

We're praying for ya'll. Hope Brent is doing better, and Dale, too.

Love in Christ,

Bro. Tony

MK: I found some sweatshirts for Brent, but no sweatpants.

Aldi's is a 'bag your own' grocery store. Food is much cheaper there.

This new medication is keeping me tired all the time, but won't let me get to sleep. I guess it will take time to get used to it.

I'm turning in REAL early tonight. I haven't had a good night's sleep in four nights...

Pleasant dreams all!

Morning all:

I wasn't going to be posting, but the excruciating pains of "rock" birth are keeping me up. I went to bed at 11:30pm, and was up at 1:30am. NOT KEWL! :( I haven't slept in two days except for that one and half hours. It took nearly a half an hour to get out of bed without waking Vivian up....She's really in a deep sleep. She's not been sleeping either, and I'm not about to wake her unless something "exciting" happens, like my stent starts coming out and I need to go to the ER again! ;)

Thanks all for your prayers. I will probably only be posting sporadically if at all.

God is still in control, and there IS a purpose for all of this.

Have a great nights sleep all.

Good morning Tony and all:

I was surprised to see you posting! Hope you get to feeling better real soon!

I had a rough night again. I went to bed early and woke up every hour starting at 11:00. I finally just got up at 4:00.

It is 48ºF right now and raining. The high today is only going to be 52º. I may have to kick the heat on since Brent and I already have colds...

Good morning...Wait until you are old enough and sleep comes and goes all the day long. The difference is that we usually have enough time during the day to catch up on sleep deprivation.

Usually three hours at a time is my sleep limit and I refuse to stay in bed when I awaken. I tend not to get too intellectual in the late hours; the things that keep the mind working and deny rem sleep.

Aches and pains seem to go along with age and years of bodily abuse. One can make them a focal point or ignore them. I choose to ignore them and get on with life.

We had our flu shots Tuesday night and wife was complaining about her arm being sore....I can't remember which arm I got the shot...one of the benefits of getting older...we tend to forget, and that can sure be convenient. Following my strokes, that doesn't take much. Wife keeps reminding me I only have half a brain working anyway.

Cheers, God bless, and keep looking up, there's only dirt below,

Jim

Well, Sue, I couldn't lay in bed. I'm reclining (sitting on my tailbone) in a plastic lawn chair to stay somewhat comfortable right now so I can post.

Will be praying for ya'lls colds.

Vivian has sinus problems. She sounds bad, though she sounds better than she did on Sunday. I think the allegra has been helping.

We've got an Aldi's here (several in fact) but they are all in Smyrna, Lebanon, and Nashville. Viv and I used to shop there quite often. But, it's just too far to drive now. We're hoping they'll put one in Shelbyville soon. We sure did save money there. Here was have a lot of "Save-A-Lot* stores. They used to be IGA and A & P. We kept getting some pretty poor quality groceries there, so we stopped shopping with them and went back to Wal-Mart and Krogers.

Jim, I tried very hard to ignore this pain with the kidney stone...guess what, though, Brother? It's easier said than done! Especially when it make you jump out of bed screaming and crying and feeling like someone has just stabbed you in the side, back and pelvis with a knife! I usually ignore many things like colds, pneumonia, etc. God usually takes care of all of that with natural stuff and faith and prayer.

Did you tell me you were 78 years old?

Hi Tony. Oh, I appreciate the pains of stones..the only thing that actually made me crawl from my motorcar to the doctor's back door at 4 in the morning some years back. So, I appreciate the pains of certain circumstances. I am just referring to the daily aches and pains of life that confront us all.

Afraid so, Tony, I am 78. That's why I post the dapper young bloke in the photo. My daughter jokes....at least I think she is joking...that her father didn't build the ark, he did the blueprints for it....I guess that means old...

Cheers,

Jim

LOL! Jim, I want you to know that you are a big encouragement to me!
God bless ya, Brother!

God bless you, Tony. Glad that this old bloke can encourage someone. Remember that song that George Beverly Shea used to sing:

If I can help somebody as I travel along, then my living shall not be in vain...

As I visit the nursing homes near me, and see all the folk bedridden, limited to wheelchairs and various stages of disabilities, I remember that song and then count my blessings...ton by ton.

Cheers,

Jim

Tony, you ALWAYS have some excuse for just sitting (or laying) around and letting your bride do the work.

I'd be real careful to at least LOOK busy. Remember, I emailed Vivian and offered a free funeral service if she should ever want to just knock you a good one upside the head . .

Now as for Jim? ANYONE who can survive the blitz has my respect for sure. He's got REAL trouble (he's canadian, you know).

Good morning all:

It is a cold 45ºF this morning and raining. It is only going to get up to 52ºF today.

The rain was supposed to stop last night so I agreed to sub on a corner today. Looks like I am going to get wet and I already have a cold. :(

Have a good day!

Good Morning, everyone. I was so busy yesterday, I missed having coffee with you.

Good to see you back, Dr. Bob. We missed you.

Cooler weather here and there may be a light freeze in part of the state on Monday.

I'm concerned about my Florida kids. This is getting to nearly be a daily prayer for their safety from hurricanes.

They never seem to be concerned.

Have a great day!

Betty

Dr. Bob,

You crack me up, Brother!

It's your considerable sense of humor that the Lord has used in my life, and I thank you for being my friend and somewhat of a mentor to me.

Yep, you're right...I ALWAYS have an excuse to let Vivian do all the work. ;)

Oh, about that free funeral....from what I understand from the psychics who were at my mother in law's funeral, (they said I would be hospitalized in October and would die in December), would you be free for December or early January!?! ;) Psychics...LOL

Yes, Dr. Bobbie, we have missed your postings. Wot have you been up to? Have you been busy with the new church that started up near you? Fill us in, mate....well, not too much, but a line or two would be nice.

Cheers,

Jim, eh!

PS. By the way, the "eh" had its origins in the north of England. It is said that the Canadian troops brought it home with them after the war.

Hello and goodnight all!

It has been a very busy day, full of frustration, evil school principals, letter writing and grocery shopping. Evidently the only thing anyone cared about was the groceries. ;)

Now I believe I'm tired, so I'm heading off to bed in just a few minutes.

Tony, glad you're back and hope you're feeling at least some better. Your spirits seem more cheerful(not the psychic ones either).

Weather is supposed to turn cool and gloomy overnight. It'll match my mood. I'm not ready for fall, I'm NOT ready for fall, I'm NOT READY for fall, I'm NOT.........

Okay, off to bed, see ya tomorrow!

Oh, I'm sooooo mad that I could just SPIT!

I don't drink cokes very often, but tonight I went out with my best faculty friends. About nine of us stayed for 4 hours at a local pizza place and laughed and talked and laughed and talked.

When my school closed this summer, we were all scattered to the four winds and we haven't had a chance to catch up.....

Well!!!!

I drank two cokes and NOW IT IS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND I AM WIDE AWAKE!!!!

And you people are all snug in your beds dreaming pleasant dreams!!!!

It's not fair, I tell you!!!!

Oh, the humanity of it all.

Peace-
Scarlett O.
