preacher, there is a nice complex on Vandalia Road in between South Elm Eugene Street and Randleman Road. Can't Remember the name, I believe it is Quail Run, but don't hold me to it.

Several good christian brothers live in that complex.

Evening all!

Been kind of a quiet day around here, once I got all the phone calling done and got Chris picked back up from school. He didn't make it very long but at least he tried. He's done better this pm so we'll try school again tomorrow.

The girls are quiet too. One is asleep and one is playing on the computer. Probably killing off some more of her Sims. She doesn't quite have the hang of keeping them happy AND healthy.

I baked a chocolate sheet cake(no frosting) for the kids. Ya'll are welcome to a piece if you wish.

Jim, no..we're trying to start a cleaning business for vacant apts. & homes.
SFIC, I know the area, but today & friday I'm hitting the properties I worked as an exterminator. Then I'll go in a grid after that to go through the rest of G'boro. or mostly anyway. I told Agee there are some sections I Don't want to work in. Too much dope & stuff.

But I say nothing....I know that there will come a day when there is no family home to go to on Sundays and that I will long to hear them say it.
This is true, Scarlett. I used to get tired of hearing my dad's WWI stories, but I would give anything to sit and listen to every single one of them today...

Cindi: Thanks, but I am stuffed from all the banana pudding I ate tonight.

Pleasant dreams all!

Blessed Morning all:

This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Happiness is a choice. Though things sometimes come into our lives that we don't expect, we know that everything that comes before us has first been approved by God for our learning. I will therefore be happy in all things. (Sorry, had to give myself a little pep talk and reminder!)

This morning it's 32 degrees and very foggy. Vivian made it to work ok, but it was a rough road. She could barely see where she was going and she killed a poor little bunny on the way up our road. She should have picked it up and brought it back so I could have skinned it and cut it's feet off to make "Lucky" rabbits feet!

Sue, I used to listen to my Grandfather's stories about his childhood all the time, and then about his days in the CCC during WW II. If I wouldn't have listened, my mother and her sister wouldn't have even known about Grandfather's sister and another brother who had passed away at birth or shortly thereafter. They went back and did a check to see if I was right, and low and behold, in my uncles family history book it was there in black and white! I wish I would have listened more closely. I could have gleaned so much more from my Grandfather, and not only from him, but from my adoptive father, James Lanius. I miss them both greatly. Even my own father in law, though he was an alcoholic, had some hard life experiences that he spoke only to me about.

Can anyone believe that January is almost over?!? I can't! It's hard to believe that it's passed so quickly.

Everyone, have a blessed day. Though some of you may think I'm joking or "mushy", I want you to know that I pray for all of you every day and love each and every one of you. I'm glad that the Lord put you ALL in my path.

Remember to:

Be good, Be kind, Be careful.

Good morning all,

Tony, I 'interviewed' my dad on cassettes about his experiences in WWI. I just wish I had thought to have someone do it that knew the right questions to ask. And thank you for your prayers!

It is 32º this morning, heading for a high of 43º. We have a 'strong wind advisory' out until 6:00PM this evening. It is blowing at 32 mph right now. I believe we will get rain later in the week. The farmers need it - lots of it!

My 'to-do' list today consists of cleaning up the two aquariums a little and trying to figure out what's wrong with my sewing machine. I keep breaking needles...

Time for coffee.

Wow, isn't this place the hub of activity today!?!

It's up to 53 here and it's windy. I've yet to eat lunch, but I'm heading that way shortly. I think we're going to have chili-mac again tonight for dinner!
Tomorrow night will be breakfast or soup. I've GOT to be there for adult Bible study. It's going to be hard doing this for the next few months until Vivian has a change in her hours. <<<<<sigh>>>>>

Afternoon Everyone!

Sue, what kind of needles are you using in your machine? The best are made by Schmetz. Lots of things can cause a needle to break including, the thread coming off the wrong end of the spool(gets caught in the split), lint in your bobbin case, not enough oil in the right places or the wrong size needle for your fabric. If all that doesn't fix it, it might be time for an actual repairman(nah!).

Whatcha sewing?

It's been a good day here. The sun is shining which lifted my mood. Chris was smiling and joking when I got to school to check on him. He said his head still hurt some but I gave him some advil and he was fine to stay at school. No gym, though and I left his sunglasses so the sunlight wouldn't trigger the migraine back off when school let out. The sun is very bright today, probably cause it's been cloudy for so long.

Gotta run clean out my car. Two and a half weeks of sick kids, grocery shopping and todays excurision to the coop to pick up bedding and hay for the critters has taken it's toll. I'm even going to have to break down and vacuum.

My grandmother told us a couple stories that her grandfather had told her about his experiences in the "War of Northern Aggression" or "The War Between the States"
He was helping the cook make biscuits one time and didn't like the thick dough on his hands, so he kept scraping it off. He ended up with very few biscuits.
The other was about taking a bullet in the leg. (Kinda yucky) there was a hole, so it was cleaned out by running a piece of silk cloth through the hole.

Y'all have a good evening!!

Evening All,
Well I went & got our insurance today, actually found some at a reasonable price for the amount we need. So we should be set for friday, less of course the Lord has other plans!!
I forgot about the food being "virtual", so...BH! ya can have all the chocolate ya want in here!!! Now watch her not like chocolate!
At least here in the real world she's been acting more like her old self. I tried to get some pics last night of her fightin' with my hand, but that cheap camera just don't take good pictures.
Well gotta run & eat for now!

Well, for once the weatherman was right when he issued a 'strong wind warning' for our area.

We were without electricity from 2:30 this afternoon until just a few minutes ago. It got a little chilly in here!

The wind jerked the flag pole off of the front of the house - screws and all!

And then, a large tree limb fell across our power line and broke it. The only thing holding the limb up was the fact that it was laying across all the lines in the alley. The workers were here for 4 hours trying to get the limb off of the other power lines without it smashing our utility shed. They finally got it down with no damage except our Coleman grill. PTL!

I stood at the back door and prayed for over two hours. There were so many ropes running from tree to tree in the yard that it looked like a giant spider web. Those guys really earned their money today!

They had to be frozen because it is cold and the wind is still gusting to over 30 mph. One of the guys was a 'good ole boy' and when the limb finally came down - missing the shed - he yelled, "Yeee Hah". I opened the back door and yelled, "Thank you Lord!"

I also thanked the men and said God bless you to all of them. We had the alley blocked at both ends and 5 trucks and 8 guys working here.

When they told me if the ropes broke, the shed would be smashed, they told me to cross my fingers. I told them that I would pray instead and I stood at the back door all that time praying.

At one point, one of the guys came to the door and told me that the limb was off of the power lines but suspended by ropes over the utility shed. He said we would have to hire a professional to get the limb down the rest of the way.

I looked at him and said, "With what?" He said, "Hang on." He went and talked to the rest of the crew and they stayed for 2 more hours until they had the limb on the ground. They didn't have to do that because it was on our property, but I thank God they did.

Ya don't s'pose those hours of praying had anything to do with that do ya?

Brent and Dale were praying too, of course. After it was all over I looked at Brent and said, "God answered prayer again." Brent looked at me and said, "Doesn't He always?"

Kids! Ya gotta love 'em! And ya gotta admire their faith...

Sorry this post is so long, but I get excited when I see the Lord at work!!!

Pleasant dreams all!

Well Sue, your broken limb has displaced these two.. Don't mind if they spend some time with BH here at CGCH, do you?

Actually, padre, it displaced a whole family. Their 'nest' contributed to the limb falling. They had dug out most of the limb where it joined the tree.

I've already told them I will pay good black walnuts for a good night's work, and BH would be their boss.

I think I've wound down enough to get to sleep now, so I really am going to bed this time.

Since I had relatives who fought on both sides of the War of Northern Aggression, I heard stories from both sides. My grandfather's great grandfather or grandfather fought for the North and was captured and imprisoned 2x near Chattanooga. He escaped both times. My birth father's family fought on both sides....his mothers side of the family fought on the side of the South, his fathers side fought for the North. I wish I would have recorded or written down all the stories that were passed down. I was just a wee young lad then, and didn't. I didn't think much about it until after they were all gone.

Blessed morning all...

It's a cold 39 here. The wind chill, believe it or not, is only 29. It's still sort of foggy, but we will get through that.

Tonight is adult Bible study and the Kids of Faith. Starting next week, I will take over the adults training. I'm not sure what kind of materials to use. I haven't taught in years. Any suggestions? Remember...we are planning on being a SBC church.

Well, I'm a little wiped out right now. The barometric pressure is wreaking havoc with my ears.

Be good, Be kind, Be careful.

Good morning all,

I had a WONDERFUL night's sleep! I just got up. I'd almost forgotten what it was like to 'sleep in'...

It is 27º this morning with NO WIND! PTL!

I didn't get to do my 'to-do' list yesterday, because by the time we were done with school, we had no electricity. So, hopefully, those will get done today.

Cindi, it seems like the sewing machine needle is hitting the plate. I may be able to move it over. I haven't really had a chance to look at it. I just had it in the shop a couple of months ago. I'm not making anything, just mending.

Time for coffee!
