I would love to have this type of surgery, however; I was born with one blind eye. I can only see out of my Left eye.
The fear of having something happen to my one good eye with nothing to fall back on scares me to death.
Thank God we now have the technology to help people with vision problems.

FoG, my daughter is also blind in one eye. It can be stressful trying to keep that other eye from getting injured! She's only 9 right now, and doesn't realize just how seriously she needs to take safety issues with that one eye.

Ok, for my papers. Three down, three to go. I love this pressure! It's how I write. LOL Give me two years and I'll never do it or will do a bad job, give me two hours and ZOOOOOOOOMMMM! :laugh:

Well, I've been wanting to do this for years. My excuse for a long time was that they didn't do it for astigmatism. Then they did and I just didn't go. My vision has decreased drastically in the last year, so . . .

Having someone work on your eyes is a frightful experience. I was hoping they'd do it this week so I wouldn't have any time for the jitters. I'll let you guys know how it goes and if I can indeed see the itsy-bitsy stuff in life (with or without the math ).

Gina, my class is over on Tuesday. I turned in my next to the last project today. Biggie is due on Tuesday. I feel glued to the computer -- desk -- chair . . .

After all that, I just got a call from the eye doctor -- who I didn't see yesterday, I only saw the technicians -- and he doesn't think I'll benefit from the surgery, soooooo . . .

Am I disappointed or relieved??? mmmmmmm

If it were me, I'd be a tad aggravated. Why did you only see tech's and did you know beforehand the doc might call and cancel?

Well the first four closets are clean! Now to work my way around the bedroom.

First a Granny Smith apple with caramel dip! Mmmm!

mmmm I don't know why I only saw a tech, but I was going back to see the doctor next Thursday. Usually when I go to the optometrist, a tech does a lot of the preliminary stuff, so I didn't even think about it.

No, I didn't know they might cancel, but if I don't need it, I sure don't want it.

I am destined to wear classes all the days of my life. I'm skeered when it comes to somebody poking around in my eyes.

Techs are cheaper than doctors, and they can handle the preliminaries. The doctor always makes the final decision from his/her standpoint.......the patient has the ultimate decision.

No surgery coming my way either, Gid...Not because I am "skeered" but the age factor enters into the equation. I have four pairs of glasses; computer, reading, general walking and the same with bifocals in case I have to read something. It is always a lark when I go to leave home with the wrong glasses in place.

MC, it's great that they're honest and telling you you're not a good candidate, rather than going ahead and getting your money and performing a procedure that may not benefit you much.

I've known people to do it one eye at a time, because of the fear factor. I'd probably do the same. I wouldn't be happy if they messed up one eye, but I wouldn't be blind.

I'd love to see them come up with a way to fix blindness caused by the shape of the eye being wrong, which is what happened with my daughter. I would think that it would be possible. There's so many things that can't be fixed despite such major medical advances, but then again I see some things that could probably be done with a little creativity, but aren't. Guess nobody wants to volunteer for the role of guinea pig either, so that wouldn't help.

My eyes won't stay open long enough, I could never wear contacts because my eyes involuntarily clamp shut whenever anything gets near them, I can try and try and they won't stay open.

Aubre, I used to be the same way, but I wanted to wear contacts SO badly.

When I first got them, I went to the eye doctor every morning (for a month) and he put them in for me (I love small towns!).

I finally got to where I could do it myself and I've not regretted it.

Bitsy: Sorry it didn't work out for you. I know how disappointed you must be. Hang in there - new technology is on the way.

I slept SO good last night. I went to bed at 9:00 and got up at 5:00 (with only one bathroom call). Ahhh, sweet sleep!

It is so nice to come out on the other side of a serious illness. PTL!

The city came by yesterday and started grinding out one of the stumps in the front. They will finish it today and possibly do the other one. Then, next week, they will take up the portions of the brick sidewalk that were badly buckled by roots, pour cement, and stamp it to look like real bricks so it will match. I have barricades out in front right now. It looks like a war zone...

I've been looking for material to recover two wingbacks. I've got an idea -- not too narrow, but in a color family and I can't find anything to fit my idea. good thing I'm not in a hurry. Mid July, I'll start to worry!

Gina, that correcting the shape of the eyeball may well be on the way. I cannot believe the things they are working on. Amazing!

Good Morning Everyone!

Already been busy and it wasn't cleaning house! First thing this morning, UPS delivered car parts we had had overnighted because they couldn't be gotten locally. So I had to take them out to the mechanic that's working on T's truck. Then I ran to the grocery store.

I'm about to start the day's cleaning project (still in my room), but needed a cuppa coffee first and some donuts.

Good morning all,

I can hardly believe that I have another cold! Dale keeps bringing this stuff home from work.

Right now, it's a head cold. I'm praying it stays that way so I can have my tests next week!

I am coughing some but my chest feels all right at the moment.

The Dr. will say yea or nay Monday morning. I really want to get these tests over with. I feel like my life has been put on 'hold'.

I've recovered these wingbacks three times already. They are great chairs and we've had them 26 years. I've had other chairs that fell apart the moment I pulled the fabric off.
