Oooh! I hope I didn't start a bad thing! I could spend a fortune at the Fabric Club! And probably will since I'm mad at Walmart and Hancock's selection has gone way done lately.

Speaking of Walmart, have the ones in your area started converting your checks into electronic debits? Came back from vacation to that little surprise. I do not like having my checks converted! (no security against mistakes) The girl had it converted before I knew what she was doing. No warning whatsoever, just "sign here".

Anyhow, Good Morning Everyone!

My girls don't think so cause I'm using forced labor in my spring cleaning efforts today. :D Chris will do his share when he gets back from sword training. :D :D I'm a meanie!

Gotta get at it!
mk, the check conversion is one reason we're going to stop shopping by check at Wally World. I'll keep my comments about Wally World to myself.

Morning all:

Well, I had my iron and blood infusion on Thursday afternoon. It seemed like it took forever. They didn't like it, but, I had to get up and move around some. While I was there, there were two people who had reactions to medications being administered...one went into a seizure and had to be taken across the road to the ER by EMS.

Friday, I had the nerves in my spine radiologically severed 3/4 of the way through. It has offered a bit of relief, but, not as much as had been hoped. Still, a bit is better than nothing.

It's very warm here this morning....76 with heat index of 82. It's supposed to be getting very warm later in the week.

Be good, Be kind, Be careful.

I use my Mastercard for everything; never carry cash, except pocket change. We do, however, make sure we pay our Mastercard off before any interest can be added. It is the interest that can kill you.

I will have to ask wife about converting cheques.....I haven't heard of it up here.

Cheers,

Jim
Jim, it's becoming quite common here. I can send in my payment to the mortgage company, and instead of waiting for the check to clear, they just send an electronic image of said check and the money is withdrawn automatically within a couple of seconds, just like with a debit card. They do it on our mortgage, car payment, credit card payments, and in some cases our groceries and utility bills. Strange how they can do that and not allow us any float time, but, on direct deposits into our bank accounts from places of employment or even the US Gov't, they don't credit the things automatically. That's just crooked. So, for us, if we don't have the money, we no longer send the check, even if the money is being deposited that day. If it's a late payment, too bad...it's a late payment.

Good luck Sue!

Ah Tony go ahead, comment to your hearts content about Wally world! We have a love/hate relationship ourselves.

I'm afraid checks are going to become a thing of the past soon. I've gotten to where I only use them when I shop. Bills are paid online. Most of the fast food places take a credit card, so I don't even carry much cash anymore. (If I don't have cash, I'm not tempted to spend it!)

We never carry cash. But, with this course we're taking from Dave Ramsey, we're starting to take cash to shop with at Wally World, and several other places. It seems to cut back on the spending, and it keeps our debit cards from being "double" swiped....around here there have been problems with people putting electronic readers inside the card readers and getting the info shipped to them via electronic connection and stealing people's card #'s, pass-codes, etc.

The way Wally World works around here with driving other people out of business, I have a hard time buying from them. Also, the pre-packed meat's are full of carbon dioxide to keep the meat red, and the meat often goes bad before it's expiration date. Also, Wally World has a continuing habit of putting one price on the item, and then when it's checked out, it's a totally different price. We've started taking a pad & pencil with us and writing down every price and UPC code on every item. They are definitely not honest, nor are they reliable when it comes to Wally.

Well, ours isn't that bad, yet, as far as stolen info and bad prices. But mostly I don't buy meat there, yuck! I buy meat and a good deal of my groceries from a local grocer who still buys meat locally and cuts it themselves. We're lucky to still have a place that does and I support them all I can. They also buy local vegetables, so we get quite nice prices on those too in season. Way cheaper than Walmart who keeps their prices the same all year round.

If we stay here in this house after March, we're looking to raise a couple of cattle and pigs and have them slaughtered. That should give us enough meat for a while if we do it every year or so.

Thats it!....the good ole days. The B-I-G black cauldren in the back yard, making up a frame to hang the..ah...intended meals on, & all the fun stuff that followed. I've got some timbers to make up a frame....oh , wait, ya said to have someone do for ya. Don't know where to get the big pot anymore anyway!!

Ha! We slaughtered pigs that way when I was kid! I was glad I was a girl and missed out on all the yucky stuff! Only we used a great big old oak tree instead of a frame.

Speaking of pigs, I put my guinea pigs out in the yard today and half scared to death! Funny little things weren't sure what to do out there at first. Didn't take 'em long to figure out that green stuff was grass and get to munching, though.

While they were out I cleaned up the room size closet they occupy and rearranged things so T can get to his darkroom equipment. I found some negatives(black & white) of the kids I want him to enlarge. One is of Jenna and her unrelated twin sitting on a park bench eating popscicles. They must be about three in the picture. So cute!

If you are wondering how Jenna can have an unrelated twin, so have we! This little girl is from South Africa and there is no possible way our two families are related, but the girls look so much alike that even us parents have confused them if we weren't looking straight at them. They have the same hair color, body size and type and even similar facial features(though this is beginning to change some as they get older). Of course they are also best friends and have been since just about the time that popscicle picture was taken. :)

Kids want supper and I don't want to cook. Hmmm, I'll have to figure something out!

Good evening folks,

Well, I got the 'go ahead' to start taking my tests. Tomorrow is the Echo Cardiogram. I'm taking one day at a time.

I know for Thursday, my doctor is going to be there for the test. That kind of surprised me.

Am I the only one who did NOT know that decaffeinated coffee had 2/3% caffeine in it???

I can not drink any coffee, not even decaf before one of the tests.

Heading for bed with my book. Since Brent isn't here, I can go to bed anytime I want. I miss him, but this is kind of nice...

Pleasant dreams all!

Morning!

I got up with Ron this morning.

MK, I found a goldish material last night that will work for my chairs and some blinds I've had on my to-do list for the guest room. Yeah!

Today is the last day of my class, so I hope I've done enough on my web page for it to suffice. I knew I wouldn't finish it from the start. It's at http://bitsygriffin.org/algebra , and it's got enough for the prof to see where I'm going with it. Well, I hope to get a bit more done on it today. Then I'm freeeee until August.

I had to reload my printer driver last night. Silly thing wouldn't talk to my laptop. And I didn't even know they'd had a tiff!

Coffee's good this morning! Can you smell it????

Good morning all,

I had a wonderful night's sleep last night! PTL! I think the Prednisone has worn off now so I should be able to sleep from now on...

Off to the shower and then the hospital for a test, then the rest of the day is MINE - but first...

Time for coffee!

We awoke to a very foggy mess this morning. We couldn't even see down onto our sidewalk from the front door. For a few moments, we thought we were in the UK!

It's VERY WARM here this morning. It's already 72 with a heat index of nearly 80! We're supposed to hit the mid 90's today with heat indexes into the 105-110 area.

Not much else going on here in this area. Just work and home for Viv and things around the house for me.

Hope all have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone!

Whew! I'm glad yesterday is over! I didn't realize how tired I was until I tried to get up this morning! (moan) "I gotta do whatttt???......" no, "you gotta go where...." mumble, mumble, "I can't moooovvvvee...."

Of course then I woke up enough to realize that the reason I couldn't move was because I was wedged in between T and Bitsy, who snuck into our bed sometime after midnight last night.

So after 3 mugs of coffee(can't call them cups) I am almost ready to start the day!

Chris is taking orders for waffles if anyone would like some.

Today I'll be back in the bedroom as I decided to rearrange the printers for easier access. Gotta a bunch of other stuff to sort through before I get that far, yuck. I'm just about tired of sorting stuff. Then again, I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel. :)

See ya'll around!

Hello to all! Glorious bright day here after a wonderful rain in the evening.

I am rejoicing in yet another day to get about and do things.

Cheers,

I wish it would rain here!

I never thought I'd get caught watering grass but here I am, about to go start the sprinkler. We haven't had any rain at my house for at least 2 weeks. Hot and dry! Of course now, if we were building something like the last 3 years, it would be pouring! :D But at least I wouldn't have to water the grass!

I must say, I'm quite enjoying my day as well.

Echocardiogram is done and they let me leave the hospital, so I'm assuming I'm in no danger of kicking the bucket today...

The first part of my Persantine Cardiolite Stress Test is tomorrow.

I cannot eat or drink anything with caffeine in it from now until after the test tommorow!!!

That means, no DECAF coffee or DECAF tea either- no pop (even no-caffeine pop) and NO CHOCOLATE!

Did I say NO CHOCOLATE?

Coffee, tea, and pop I can handle.... but NO CHOCOLATE?

It's supposably only 60 degrees right now, according to the weather channel, but I walked out there and was melting in just a few seconds, so I think it's a big mistake.

I'm glad your test went ok Sue! Keep breathing woman.

As far as checks working the same as a debit, I didn't realize it wasn't a tiny minority that still did it the old way. It's been a few years since I wrote a check that wasn't a debit, except to a tiny country market and ones to other people.

What I don't understand is how they can do that within seconds and know what you have in your account, but if you go to your bank and deposit an out of town check, it takes them up to 14 days to figure out if it's ok! (never had it take that long except at one place, but they always say that's technically how long you should wait to make sure)

Hello Everybodyyy-yy-yyy-yyy!!! This is your old pal Grover!:wavey:

Hi folks,
Sounds like y'all are keeping busy. We're getting ready for our trip to Oklahome in 11 days.
I'm also doing some sorting and shredding of old bills, credit card apps and all that stuff that seems to pile up around here.

Sue, hope you continue to have good test results and restful nights.

Sue, My prayers go with you. My wife just finished the type of tests that you are scheduled for. Believe me, my Sister, they cause more anxiety then they should. I know this won't mean much to you right now, but after the tests are done, you'll think " I was worried about that " ?
Remember you are in Jesus' hands. He is the Great Physician.

Well, it's 95 here with a heat index of over 110. I don't like that. The air conditioner has been running NON-STOP since 9 am, and that's with it set at 75. With no shade around here, I can't set it any higher without burning up!

Viv got off early today and is on her way home. I think she's going to stop by the store and buy some beef. The doctor told her last week that I needed to eat beef at least 3x a week. Ain't that just like a doctor? The AMA says we need to stay away from red meat because it's not good for us! Guess having such low iron counts, they would rather I take the risk of heart disease!

Sue, praying for you. The devil is trying to conquer through health issues.
