So tell me, what would you do in this situation. A 6 ft. 4 in. 285 lb. man of pure muscle is about to rape your 6 year old granddaughter and you notice that the pistol the man had after he invaded your house to do this awful deed is sitting on the table 3 feet from you as he starts to rape the little girl? Do you just sit there and pray or do you pick up the pistol and shoot the SOB dead?
Why do you call him a SOB? If you are supposed to love your enemies?

There is another doctrine here Dave that you are forgetting, The MoteAnd the Beam. It’s very difficult to get anything out of an organ as sensitive as the eye. So it will require coolness, calmness, patience etc. Transfer all that to the spiritual realm.... now you are touching peoples souls, the most sensitive thing in human kind. Be careful.

I am consistently pro life. Anti Abortion, Anti War, and Anti Capital Punishment. Nowhere in the NT do we see Christians violating Christ's message by using violence to defend others or themselves. That is the job of the civil magistrate. And if the magistrate does not protect, we continue following Christ's and the NT believer's examples. Fear of death robs many from following and loving Christ with all of our body, soul, and spirit.
You are Anti Abortion yet you do not oppose your government?

Would you fight to defend family?
My wife and I believe it is better to die a violent death (better than sickness) upholding Christ than to go against his word as set forth in the Sermon on the mount. And since people assume you fear death, they use it to manipulate you. But if those buttons do not work when pushed, they have lost all control over you.

But there are also many non violent ways to deal with these situations. If we love our enemies, things will find a better remedy than if we hate them.

That dear brother is wishful thinking. Since we are on the subject, would you say that Christ was an idealist?

God is not the author of evil. God did not put the degenerate Stalin in power.

Oh don't you believe the scripture?
  • Daniel 4:17 ‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers, And the sentence by the word of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men.

Pay her back even as she has paid, and give back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. [Revelation 18:6]

God allows things.

So certain are you how to interpret the above?

Okay, after reading a little bit of exegeis of the Daniel passage, I believe it is saying that it demonstrates God's power to us if He is able to strike down a powerful monarch like Nebuchadnezzar.

This is not really the same thing as saying it was God's will for Nebuchadnezzar to oppress people. In the sense that Nebuchadnezzar was not being obedient to God's Higher Laws.

The subjects of Nebuchadnezzar would therefore still be expected by God to put God's Higher Law above anything from Nebuchadnezzar that would make them serve him at the expense of serving God.

And when it was all over, their faith in God would be all the more renewed, after being tested the way it was.

In short, God gave the big bully his comeupance.

You want someone else to use violence on your behalf, to protect you. I imagine you call the police all the time.
