First of all, the 1996 edition has some unusually long sentences. I have only been comparing the books of James and Galatians, but have come across a handful of sentences which contain 18-20 words. The newer versions tries to keep sentences in the range of the low teens or less --13 seems to be their average.
The older one keeps using "those who aren't Jews" or "non-Jews." The newer one simply uses Gentiles.
The words circumcise and circumcision are used in both editions. The word "guardian" is used only in the 1996 version, but "other people are in charge of the children" is used in the 2013 edition. That's a puzzling inconsistency.
Anyway, we'll start with the book of James using my famous snippets. For the 1996 version I will use the designation OLD, and for the 2013 version --NEW.
1:14
OLD : But your own evil longings tempt you. They lead you on and drag you away.
NEW : But each person is tempted by their own evil desires. These desires lead them on and drag them away.
1:15
OLD : When they are allowed to grow, they give birth to sin. When sin has grown up, it gives birth to death.
NEW : When those desires are allowed to remain, they lead to sin. And when sin is allowed to remain and grow, it leads to death.
1:18
OLD : He wanted us to be the first and best of everything he created.
NEW : He wanted us to be the first harvest of his new creation.
1:26
OLD : Suppose you think your beliefs are right because of how you live.
NEW : Suppose people think their beliefs and how they live are both right.
2:6
OLD : But you have put down poor people.
NEW : But you have disrespected poor people.
2:18
OLD : Show me your faith that doesn't do good works.
NEW : Show me your faith that doesn't cause you to do good works.
4:1
OLD : Isn't it because of your sinful longings? They fight inside you.
NEW : Isn't it because of your sinful desires? They fight within you.
