Comparing the CSB To The NIV In Psalms

@RipponRedeaux are those quoted NIV vss taken from the 2011? I think the NIV is vastly better than the CSB. I’m well aware that that’s my opinion only, but I do like it better.

"Better"? In the OT I think so. In Psalms definitely. It has pained me both times I have read through the Pslams in the CSB. Overall, they are really close, but because of the weakness in Psalms (Rippon has highlighted some), I would give the edge to the NIV 2011. I will take the CSB any day over the NIV 1984.

NIV and CSB get a bad rap from several people. Both are really good though.

The WEB, LEB, ESV and EHV have the same wording as the NIV.
The KJV has 'dragon.'
For this entity in other passages, in other books of the Bible its called Leviathan.
'Sea monsters' is used in many versions in this verse. But it sounds dated to me. It makes me think of a fictional tale.

The CSB wording is as long as the NIrV's rendering :
Following your covenant laws gives me joy just as great riches give joy to others.

Usually the verses in the NIrV are longer than those in the NIV. The NIrV is the only Bible version on Bible Gateway that uses the words covenant laws here.
