Compassion for Ukraine

It starts with
Dear Praying Friend,

I’ve just returned from Ukraine, and am overwhelmed with what I saw and experienced. The destruction in some areas is horrific, and needs are overwhelming. Having seen the operation on the ground I can assure you that, through your gifts and prayers, you are helping to provide a lifeline to those who are in desperate need. On behalf of the Ukrainian people, allow me to express their gratitude for the physical needs that you are meeting and the hope that your compassion is bringing to them. To the glory of God, since the beginning of the war, you have had a part in sending more than 115 loads of humanitarian aid to various parts of Ukraine. These trips add up to an estimated 460 tons! My heart was full after meeting with both our team in Lutsk, Ukraine and Warsaw, Poland. I am amazed at the dedication and tireless effort of so many who are faithfully serving.

Part of my time in Ukraine included a trip to Kyiv and a wonderful opportunity to reunite with our remaining church family at Living Hope Baptist Church. We were able to spend a Lord’s Day together as we fellowshipped, sang, and shared from the Word of God. Many who previously attended have fled from Kyiv. This once bustling city seems only 5-10% occupied by residents. On that Sunday evening we traveled north to Dymer, going through areas that had been hit hard by the war. We witnessed the destruction left by the Russian military in the cities of Borodyanka, Bucha, and Makariv. While in Dymer we were able to share the gospel multiple times with crowds of people who gathered on the streets. These groups, who experienced over 30 days of Russian occupation, ranged between 25-40 people each. One woman shared, “Before the war I was an atheist, but now I am praying to God. Thank you for coming, please come again and tell us more.” She took a Ukrainian New Testament with her.

And continues on from there.

Okay, I watched. There's a reason it wasn't titled compassion for the church in Ukraine, or, for those suffering in Ukraine. I noticed they left Putin off the prayer list, lol.
