You forgot the next part to Romans 12:1,2. You didn't even mention the last part of verse two. God has called us to more than just live. We are to be transformed. You forgot to mention what else He has called us to. In Mt. 28:19,20 commanded His disciples to make disciples. So how many disciples are you making currently?

That's what the Christian life is really all about. It's all about Jesus, not the stop signs on the road and what everyone else does. It's about the task Jesus has called each person to--making disciples.

Howevever, we have men who enjoy the approval of the world and men, more than God's approval of their doings. There we find our topic of BJU departing from its Separatist/Fundamentalist roots. BJU was founded for that cause and is aiming in another direction.

Getting down to the burr under the saddle. Accreditation. I thank God Christian colleges are finally realizing that the myths that they proclaimed against the boogey-man of accreditation were 100% false.

Obviously, BJU still have some who believe the piles of tripe (cleaned up word for what it truly is) that they themself taught for years. What you sow you will reap.

I remember when Maranatha BBC, supported by many ifb churches, sought North Central (real) accreditation. It was the BJU cronies in the Chicago and Milwaukee suburbs who ranted long and loud, villifying Maranatha. Now, of course, they get certified teachers for their Christian schools from Maranatha. Hmmm.

For what it's worth, I believe and always have that BJU's attacks on MBBC's secular accreditation are a load of hooey. I would not criticize their involvement in TRACS (although I would not prefer that road myself) if it were not for the elephant-sized (or, given the political season, should I say donkey?) inconsistency it creates.

What I just can't understand is how they can continue to teach their doctrine of separation and engage in the kind of cooperative relationships TRACS creates. TRACS is a religious affiliation as much as it is an educational affiliation because its purpose is to accredit religious institutions exclusively.

Sure. I am without hesitation a loyal Graduate of Bob Jones and a former staff member as well. I have been in close proximity with Dr. Bob Jones Jr. and Bob 3rd. Of course, Dr. Bob Jr. has been with the Lord since November 12, 1997. He was a great man, though not perfect, you always knew where he stood on an issue.

Hate to "pile on," foxrev, but I must also express my dismay over your silly concern over Stephen's "look." Styles do change. If I came to the pulpit wearing the exact same styles as, say, Charles Spurgeon or D.L. Moody, it would be patentely ridiculous. "Spiky hair" and "low-profile glasses" are no more worldy than mutton-chop sideburns, wider ties, three piece suits, flat-tops, or horn-rimmed glasses of years past. I had the opportunity to hear and see Stephen Jones in NH this past spring. His appearance and demeanor was a credit to the Lord and in keeping with the ministry- neat, conservative, low key... what you would expect a young man in the ministry today to look like. It's not as if he has gone out and gotten numerous body piercings, tattoos, and sports a goatee and black crew-neck shirt sans-tie under his suit (not that all of those things would be necessarily bad, either).

Define "spiky hair" back in the day, I wore a crew cut and even today what hair I have gets "spiky" at times. As for "low profile glasses", sorry wire rims are the oldest type of glass frames. Now lets get off these CAT 3/4 issues and on to matters that really count.

Getting back to the "original" issue gentlemen. BJU has left its original separatist stand and is now a much more moderate school than it had been for 70 years. BJ III has ardently defended a New Evangelical man, Dick Gregory and also has promoted meetings with a well known man in the SBC. Both of which BJU has opposed for years and both groups are in disobedience with Bible Separation.

The university is pursuing, quite strongly, accreditation through a New Evangelical "Accreditation agency." For what purpose? All accreditation does is give the approval of men - so we were taught as students at BJ.

BJIII has also mislead the US in stating on Larry King live that the interracial dating rule was not discussed "for generations" when he knew full well that it had been during the 1983 court case. Sure, we do not agree with the rule. However, how in the world can a man outright lie about something that thousands of people knew had actually happened?

Other issues remain as well concerning BJU . . .

Foxrev, BJIII did mistate the facts regarding interacial dating and marriage at BJU. I was there in the early 80s. I know that they taught that it was Scriptural to keep the races from intermarrying.

When BJIII said what he said on Larry King Live, I immediately knew that he was spinning the truth. BJU changed its view.

But this is an example of BJU holding a faulty view in the first place! A man-made view. You should be thankful that they are now interpreting this issue correctly.

The problem with your argument is that the "changes" you are crying about are man-made regulations, not historic, orthodox positions that all Christians have held to down through the years.

That BJU is shedding some of its "quirkiness" is a good thing, not a bad thing!

We were also taught at BJU not to be anonymous. I know of a Rev. Fox who is interim pastor at a church in Wisconsin. He earned his Ph.D. at BJU and teaches at NBBC.

I'm not saying you are that guy. I don't know and I'm not trying to imply anything or invade your privacy. The problem with anonymity is that it could lead to this kind of confusion and misidentification.

No reason to be cheerful about a man LYING. It was shameful and a disgrace that he had to lie about it. Purely pride on BJ3's part, Paul.

The compromise of BJU accepting, promoting and defending New Evangelical men is a real problem. This is part of BJ3's effort to change the image and perception of the "Mainstream" concerning BJU. Never are we instructed to please men, rather to please the Lord. In trying to reach out to others, BJ3 IS violating clear Scriptural commands about disobedient brethren.

What would your response be if BJU "marked" you and then avoided you on the grounds that you are divisive?

BJ3 has his massive "File Room" for that. Jack VanImpe exposed it in his book "Heart Disease In Christ's Body." There are labels both good and bad on BJU grads and they don't even know it.

foxrev, I'd have to agree with Paul33. If we know what's right, are faithful to our respective areas of ministry, and have (in your case) taken proper steps to correct and expose known error... isn't that all you can do? By your own admission, BJ3 isn't going to listen. BJU has its share of critics on this board and elsewhere for many reasons. There are plenty of other alternatives (fundamental and not) to BJU that you can find without searching very hard. What influence you let BJU have on you is determined by you alone. I sincerely doubt it will ever depart from the influence and control of the family, anyway.

Isn't Northland BBC (not sure its connection except in a post above that links rev to it?) also finally seeking accreditation? With their academic record, I hope they make it.

BJU has a proven track record and I just question why they are working with TRAC rather than one of the six major regional accrediting agencies.
