    A wrong understanding. Not annihilation but, ". . . rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. . . .". A post resurrection lose of both the soul and reurrected body in their deaths.

    To be separated from both one's soul and body as a second the death.

    The Second Death is after being dead in trespasses and sins ( first death), then to die, physically ( Second Death).

    The lost soul is reunited with a Resurrected body, to suffer knowingly and consciously, forever.

    The extent of the lost soul's sin against the ETERNAL Trice Holy God is to the degree that the ETERNAL Flames of Hell will never extinguish their Punishment due.

    There is no "distruction", or "losing" of the soul or body, ultimately.

    @Alan Gross
    Both the soul and body die in the second death. Yes they are tormented for all eternity. What does not die is how they in their dead soul and dead body are tormented. Mark 9:48 in what of one never does.

    The dead soul.
    When Jesus soul died, Isaiah 53:10, Psalms 22:1, Psalms 22:6. His body had not died yet.
