Confused with Joel Osteen

Joel Osteen has endorsed the church above and they affirm the essentials of the faith. They deny Lordship Salvation and Calvinism, but these are not essentials so I will leave them alone. But this has gotten me confused as to why Osteen would endorse a church that affirms the essentials of the faith? I mean I have been to websites of Emerging churches that were heretical, Universalist churches, and even American Baptist churches that were heretical, and yet of the group it is a Joel Osteen clone that stands out of the bunch??? Confused..

If I were to evangelize churches or start war with churches that affirm the essentials then I would be in sin and would be grieving the Holy Spirit (Eph 4:30). In other words I will not be sending any letters to King James Only Baptist churches.

Do not try and stop me from my mission or my task nor try and talk me out of it. I have friends at Puritan Reformed Theological seminary and they also agree with me about militant evangelism.

"Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer. "The Pharisee stood and was praying thus to himself, 'God, I thank Thee that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax-gatherer. 'I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.' "But the tax-gatherer, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, but he who humbles himself shall be exalted."
Luke 18:10-14 NAS77

Will you stop antagonizing me? Yes I wanted to send letters to your churches in my area as well, however from what I have seen they affirm the essentials of the faith so I would be in sin to send a letter.

I think Wesleyan you will see that it is YOU that is causing division here and not me. The Calvinist wants peace, but the Wesleyan wants division.

Exactly... I do not understand why he cannot see this when it is so obvious to so many.

Why do you see the need to make an exhibition your efforts for your "mission"? You appear to want the praise and admiration of men.

Difficult to argue against Scripture.

Difficult to argue against Scripture.

It isn't if you are a person who couldn't care less about Scripture unless it is confirmed and expounded in some book to be misinterpreted and misapplied to feed his ego. Not that I know anyone like that ... Just saying there may be people like that out there.

You must be one of those here who hates books. ;)

I don't get it, John.

Lordship teaching pertains to the gospel, which is the greatest essential.

If Lordship teaching is truth, then it's essential. If it isn't essential, then it is not true

1) Who's trying to stop you or talk you out of it? Instead, YOU'RE trying to talk us into it, when we're pointing out that God has different missions for us.

2) You're sending letters that you know challenge others' beliefs, knowing full well that doing so causes strife with unbelievers--but YOU'RE the one who wants peace?

3) You have received more than one response that should be indicating to you that posting what you're doing is bragging about it; but you refuse to acknowledge it. Why are you so prideful? Why can't you just do what you're doing, and let us know the results? Are you so desirous of our blessing and praise of your endeavors that you've forgotten that scripture says don't let the left hand know what the right is doing?

Yes perhaps this is my error. I need to back off. Forgive me on this one. I was getting zealous. Everyone does have a different calling and mission. Not everyone is a street evangelist and open air preacher. Not everyone is called to do what I do and I should not force others to do the same.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Hebrews 4:12-13 NAS77
