Confused with Joel Osteen

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Hebrews 4:12-13 NAS77

This church is sacramental in belief - read their articles of faith. They don't preach the gospel of Christ any more than Joel Osteen does. Osteen is an absolute heretic.

Well the essentials are mentioned there. If they deny them then that is one thing but as I have not been there I do not know. But if you think that church is bad get a load of this one.

I'd agree. They have all the right elements listed in their statement of faith, but they strive to "share God's love through giving and serving"

There's a church in my area just like that, where they're doing a lot of good stuff, and hoping that people will "connect" with Christ thru serving and giving. But they don't preach the cross to unbelievers.

But here's some works they teach that John will like, from their statement of faith:

REPENTANCE: Repentance is the commitment to turn away
from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ, which
allows us to receive His redemption and to be regenerated by
the Holy Spirit. Thus, through repentance we receive
forgiveness of sins and appropriate salvation.(Acts 2:21,3:19;
I John 1:9)

I hope there isn't even one unbeliever who reads that garbage and believes it.

Thank you James. I missed that line. Thats works based salvation. Perhaps I should send them a letter but I am trying to decide which of these I should contact in love.

The Osteen clone church looks like a real Christian church, yet teaches works based salvation. This one may line more up with the false teachers in the book of Jude than the ones above so they would be my target, especially over the New Age Church that is FAR FAR out there there that even Catholics can see a problem.

childish...isn't there some rule about posting rabbit pictures? If not, there should be. I did like the rabbi one, though (let's not rule out rabbi pictures).

I was going to post one of a donkey. After thinking about it, I thought that it might be misunderstood.

Joel Osteen has endorsed the church above and they affirm the essentials of the faith. They deny Lordship Salvation and Calvinism, but these are not essentials so I will leave them alone. But this has gotten me confused as to why Osteen would endorse a church that affirms the essentials of the faith? I mean I have been to websites of Emerging churches that were heretical, Universalist churches, and even American Baptist churches that were heretical, and yet of the group it is a Joel Osteen clone that stands out of the bunch??? Confused..

If I were to evangelize churches or start war with churches that affirm the essentials then I would be in sin and would be grieving the Holy Spirit (Eph 4:30). In other words I will not be sending any letters to King James Only Baptist churches.

Do not try and stop me from my mission or my task nor try and talk me out of it. I have friends at Puritan Reformed Theological seminary and they also agree with me about militant evangelism.

He is teaching a Gospel of self esteem and feeling good, a new rehash of Robert Schuller...

You can get him now on XM radio, as for only 5.99 each month, as he now has his pwn seperate radio network on it!
