Here's all my unpopular posts:

I already see the problem! It's not dress that is turning people away from God. It is the fact that you have a ministry and not God. You clearly admit that the ministry is yours. If you would give your ministry over to God, more people might get saved. Why would we look like the World, talk like the World, and act like the World to win more souls? We need more Godly standards! It's lying to a lost person to not dress Godly. You are telling them through your actions "it's okay to dress wrong because we do it too!" That lying.

Your whole idea of not comparing scripture to scripture is unscriptural. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:13,"...comparing spiritual things with spiritual." The problem is that you don't want other verses so you can misconstrue the Bible into saying something it's not saying. Also, are we so shallow as to think that God only cares about our heart? Hopefully not! God cares about ALL of you including your heart! If God didn't care about dress than why is it all through out the Bible. In Isaiah 47:2 the Bible makes very clear that uncovered hair equals nakedness. The problem is people just don't want to change. They want to blend in with the World instead of being separate like the Bible commands us to be.

Alright Bible Believers, Why is their foolish jesting here? The Bible teaches aganist this sin!!!!!

A rebuke isn't foolish jesting! Your arguements will not merit anything before God's eyes!

Hell is eternal. Hell is real. Hell has fire. Lazurus wanted WATER!!!! Why? Because he was in FIRE!!!!!! Hell is NOT, I repeat NOT just separation from God!!!!!

Why is it that every issue that has to do with the outward appearance is put on lock? Why is it every conservative christian has their posts edited and deleted? Why is it that any idea contrary to modern baptistic views is not allowed, ex: the headcovering, foolish jesting, ect. Why is it my Pastor was kicked out for doing nothing? Why is it that baptist never want to change their ways? Why is it that we claim the Bible is the final authority but we twist, construe, and ignore it when it has to do with us? Why are the moderators bias?

Could the Baptists be wrong? It's only the position of a pulpit! I think Baptists have the pulpit in the middle for very obvious reasons. Such as your voice carrys everywhere better!

Slavery is a prophecy of Genesis 9:24-27. God instituted slavery. Slavery will happen whether man tries to stop it or not because it is in the Bible.

How many women follow God's command in 1 Corinthians 11 and wear a head covering? Or do we take the modern Laodicea approach that it is hair and ignore two thousand years of people interpreting it as a veil?

Good works has NO part of salvation. You do, though, have to come to God with a repentive heart. After salvation, good works is what shows the lost World that you are a Christian. The Bible says," By their fruits you should know them". Like James 2:17 says, If you do not have works your faith is dead. If you do not live a holy, godly, separated life, why did you get saved in the first place?

That is not what the Bible says. In 1 Corinthians 11:16 the Bible says," But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God." But let's compare scripture to scripture! The Bible says that "where contention is there is every evil work". Titus 3:9 tells us to leave off contention. If there wasn't evil contention in the church in the first place than there would be no hair issue. All men would just obey the scripture and stop trying to justify their sin.

Something that is missing in a lot of churches today is the understanding of the spirit of the law. The Bible commands men to have short hair. Well, how short? To be on the safe side as short as you can get it!!! That way your safe. That would be following the spirit of the law besides the letter of the law.

Priests were Old Testament Jews. Christian men are clearly told to have short hair. That's just what the Bible says.

On the contrary, nobody will get saved without outward standards. Why? Because they'll see hyprocrites who believe in modesty but won't practice it! God cares about standards. That's why their in the Bible! You shouldn't compromise Godly standards for lost souls.

I was with you all the way and edited "Lazurus" to the richman in hell for obvious reasons. I hope you're ready for ...(INCOMING!)

I'm still with you and all the way! I "concur!"

Every time this pops up I am amazed at the accusations.

Nobody is going to criticise you for holding your own standards. Unless those standards are straights from the word of God don't try to foist them on others. THAT is where the problems come in.

Wow, that was like taking a big gulp from a fire hydrant...I just can't figure out why I feel that burning sensation though. I guess it was all that talk of hell.

I'm all for holding the standard high and for communicating repentance to those who would seek to trust Christ, but people don't need a church that will only tell them what they can't do...they need a church to tell them what they can do through the power of the Holy Spirit and in Christian liberty. It is for some of the same reasons listed above (and in the way that they were listed) that many Independent Baptist churches have remained "us four and no more." Let's try to remember that we live in an age of grace and that Paul said we should become "all things to all men" (1 Cor. 9). I'm not implying that we dumb down the Gospel, but I am saying that we need to reach people with the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ within biblical boundaries. This is true missions - not some tirade about dress, head coverings, slavery, etc.

No Brother Roger, the problems just come in synco-sematic from those who already have a problem with people who stand for a Christian mode of conduct, especially in the area of dress. They always come in with that, "Well, I just don't want people to feel uncomfortable around me" and "Who do you think you are to judge me by the way I dress?"

My wife and I don't feel uncomfortable around women in modest apparel, or men in modest apparel, it's when we get around those who are immodest she gets to looking at my eyes and scowling at the immodest, me too!

It amazes me how people out in the world know how a Christian should dress and conduct themselves, but so many Christians don't.

Modesty of course IS a scriptural mandate. Christian men and women are mandated to modest dress. You would be stunned to learn the very conservative standards that our family holds to oursleves. Our problem comes in defining what is modest. I have found that we accomplish much more in loving Biblical instruction than in the ranting and raving that is so common here.

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Tit 2:15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

This is just one example of the kind of forced standards raving I am talking about. My hair has always been short, very short. But I could get it shorter - I could just shave it. KJV you say "as short as you can get it!" Do you really mean that every Christian man must look like a skinhead?

You also said that no one will get saved without outward standards in your OP. Do you really believe that the Word of God is not enough?

I do qualify here - I am VERY conservative, but some of the arguments presented here are WAY over the top.

Proverbs 28:23 (HCSB):
One who rebukes a person
will later find more favor than
one who flatters with his tongue.

Once I had a problem with the
poster now named SheEagle. She humored
me by change her moniker. You know,
you can change your handle seen (you
can't change your log-in handle very easy).

I am offended by the name "Baptist1611KJV".
If perchance the one bearing this name
is a user of the actual King James Version,
1611 Edition (KJV1611), that is fine. If i find out they
even use the Gothic font KJV1611.

Anyway, it seems that most who call
themselves "AV KJV 1611" don't use the 1611 Edition.

Baptist1611KJV: "Why is it my Pastor was kicked out for doing nothing?"

Why was i kicked out of a KJV1611 site for quoting
from the KJV1611 (the King James Version, 1611 edition)
instead of the KJV1769 (the King James VErsion, 1769 edition)?

Baptist1611KJV: "Why is it that baptist never want to change their ways?"

My American Indian friend used to like to say:
"White man speak with forked tongue".
Here in the same message you try to tell me that
I aught to be a conservative and ask this question?
That is confusing and i find your message self-contradictory.
"Conservative" means "one not for change".

As for slavery, i have one question:
Why in 2004 are all the slaves sold
in the world Christians captured by Muslims?

Todd you are absolutely right about reaching the lost with the Gospel. The Bible says that the carnal man knows not the way of God.

But the people on BB claim to have Christ as their saviour and are not in need of the Gospel. The scripture is given for instruction, reproof, doctrine and righteous living. Why then do Christians bark at it so?

1Co 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Yes, I did. I believed it was more important to make a "friend" on here, than to offend, even though I had personal valid reasons for my former screen name. (Probably the only time I ever backed down from my personal preferences, LOL.)

But, please, Brother Ed, don't drag me into this dog fight. I have no "bones" to pick in this thread. ;)

Here is the new reading of
Romans X:9 (Ed's version):

That if thou shall confesse with
thy mouth the Lord Iesus, and shalt
beleeue in thine heart, that God hath
raised him from the dead,
and serue thy pastor's outward standards,
thou shalt be saued.

Baptist1611KJV: "Why are the moderators bias?"

Do you mean this?: 'Why are the moderators biased?'

[levity] They are biased, but moderately biased [/levity]

I've experinced in my 20 years of bulletin board usage
several times the mixed blessing of being an
administrator or moderator on a board. It is harder than
one might think. So i have nothing but admiration
of an administrator or moderator who manages to keep
their head above water.

T'ain't ranting, t'ain't raving, just stating the facts and No, I wouldn't be stunned by your modesty, I've seen the extremes all the way down to the most lax.

The day I can figure out how to copy and paste love from my heart to the window and it not be trod upon and cast back at me in the effort to rend me, I will rejoice and be exceedingly glad!
