Constituent puts Florida Republican on defensive over Obamacare repeal

Republican Ross admits the GOP has no alternate plan. This show they are simply being obstructionist at the expense of people's lives.

CONSTITUENT: You’ve voted to repeal it approximately 50 times. Had zero votes on a replacement. So my question is, why do you think it is so good to deny seniors on Part D to make them pay more, about $4,000 more for medicine, and people with pre-existing conditions get denied insurance, have 26-year-olds have a harder time getting insurance because they can’t get on their parents’? Why do you think those are good ideas?

ROSS: I don’t. I think one of the most unfortunate things my party did the last three years was not offer an alternative to health care. I’ve always felt that way. I think it’s absurd when I tell people that this isn’t what you should do, but I don’t have an alternative for you.

Part D is not affected by Obamacare. What is affected in Medicare is Part B, which Obama cut drastically--hence the need for the death panels to decide who gets medicine and who does not.

Actually, the GOP offered many different ideas but the Democrats from 2008 to 2010 never even met with the GOP but merely passed what Pelosi/Reid wanted.

The Democrats took the best healthcare system in the world and nearly destroyed it. Democrats like Carter actually said that Cuba, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere had a better healthcare system than the USA. But the Democrats love and admire the Castros no matter how many people are murdered by them in communist Cuba. By the way, Fidel is a racist and made racial slurs about Batista, who was not pure white like Castro, born of great wealth and privilege. To this day, Castro hates Afro-Cubans and they have paid with their blood the major price of communist rule in Cuba. Only Palm Sunday, Raul Castro arrested 75 Ladies in White for walking peacefully with flowers after church. This is the society that Democrats like Carter laud for their health care. We have abandoned buildings in this country that are better than the Cuban hospitals.

Off the topic. The topic. The GOP Congressional Representative admits the GOP has no alternative plan. Shame on them for being obstructionist and costing people their lives because of no insurance.

Note that Rep. Ross said, "ROSS: I don’t. I think one of the most unfortunate things my party did the last three years was not offer an alternative to health care. I’ve always felt that way. I think it’s absurd when I tell people that this isn’t what you should do, but I don’t have an alternative for you."

Also, this thread has nothing to do about Cuba.

The point is that Democrats like Carter do not recognize the greatness of the American healthcare system. They like big government and actually hold up a communist system of healthcare as advanced.

Ross, one Republican among millions, is wrong that the GOP did not offer alternatives. There were many, many alternatives for many years. For example, there have been many attempts to limit damages in cases against doctors and pharmaceutical companies for many years.

The Democrats from 2008 to 2010 never met with the GOP and never considered anything that the GOP offered. The GOP was not invited to any meetings about healthcare by Pelosi/Reid/Sibelius/Obama. Obamacare was written totally by the Democrats and it has proven to be a disaster.

Obama constantly promised that a person could keep his doctor and his plan.

Obama lied about healthcare, just as Carter lied that Cuba had a good healthcare system.

If you would to continue to play on Ross's factual error, CTB, go ahead, but it is merely a strawman that you are so valiantly tearing up.

The GOP had many, many suggestions, but the Democrats passed only what they themselves wanted and the GOP was locked out of the planning.

Still off topic. The GOP has no alternative health care plan. Rep. Ross admits this.

You are the one off topic. The GOP had several plans but never developed one single plan.

It did not matter because the Democrats had absolute power and did not accept any GOP ideas.

Where you, CTB, leave the topic is that you stand behind Obama's lie that you could keep your doctor and your plan. What the GOP was unable to do because of total lack of power was have any input into what the Democrats did. That is a fact.

The GOP plan was to repair the status quo, which you well know, CTB.

You need to stop trying to tear a passion to shreds. You sound like Jimmy Carter.

Exactly, thank you for proving the point of the topic of this thread. The GOP never proposed a comprehensive plan. They made suggestions to change, usually to gut, Obamacare ... but never came up with a comprehensive plan of their own.

They still have not come up with an alternative comprehensive plan. They simply vote to kill Obamacare and propose nothing to replace it. Simply playing politics with people's lives.

Do you know how many lives it is estimated will be lost unnecessarily each year because of Republican governors opting out?

Lindsey Graham also agrees, the GOP has not put forth a comprehensive health care plan ... and his suggestion for a plan is already part of Obamacare. So he really has no plan. And this was on Fox News, no friend of Obama.

On the final day of Obamacare’s open enrollment, Fox News host Jenna Lee hammered Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) about why Republicans have yet to offer a comprehensive alternative to the health law — despite repeatedly voting for its repeal.
During an interview with the network, Graham agreed that his party should introduce a unified health care proposal. But Lee persisted, pressing him for more details. “Why do you think Republicans can put together a better plan to get the trust back in government?” she asked. “What are Republicans putting out there that says to the American, people, ‘no, you can trust us. If you don’t trust what is happening now, trust us?’”
After Graham evaded the question, Lee followed up. “Getting back to the question,” she said, “what is preventing the Republicans from putting forward a real plan that everybody can look at, even before November?”

“I think it is good for the Republican party to have a plan of its own to insure Americans without losing your doctor and bankrupting the country,” Graham agreed. “Let’s start with the idea that pre-existing illnesses should not deny you coverage, that means you’re gonna have to have pools for the really sick, but why would you want to deny somebody insurance because they got sick? Allowing children to stay on the policies up to they’re 26 makes sense given this economy and buying policies across state lines makes a lot of sense to me.”
Those proposals are already part of the Affordable Care Act, which establishes a temporary insurance program for sick people, prohibits insurers from discriminating against pre-existing conditions, and keeps young adults on their parent’s health care plans. The health law also allows insurers to sell policies across states that have established uniform regulations.

If there is a lower limit on earnings required to qualify for subsidies, then Obamacare cannot be called "comprehensive", either, (at least honestly).

I know. The truth is up to 6 bills have been introduced by the GOP, and Harry Reid sits on them.

The O/P is another swing and a miss.
