So, did it become Obamas war in 2008?
When a tyrant dictator uses WMD's on his own people and invades another sovereign country should we not help our neighbors?

Off the topic and irrational, as usual.
Rev. could that money have been spent more wisely?
When you do not like someone's response you falsely claim it is off topic and irrational. You are like a borken record. My answer is much more sane that your op as it considers facts that lead to the war rather than just a blind agenda.
The conversation you are trying to have (devoid of details and facts) are exactly why liberals are so ignorant to what is going on around them. It is why Obama says the very dumb things that he does ie (The USA is now well respected in the world).
It is impossible to have a conversation about the value of the war as compared to other things we can spend money on if we do not include in that conversation why we went into Iraq in the first place. The reason determines its value.
But you want to skip past that determination and jump straight to comparisons against other things. Liberals may be able to do such things but those of us who actually think through these issues must measure the facts first. We do not serve blind political agenda's like Left wing liberal Careville said guys like you do.

Not sure what that has to do with the OP. Obama inherited the war. I think history will always call it Bush's war as he is the one who initially sent in the troops.
Salty, don't you think that money could have been put to better use?
Off the topic, irrational and hysterical.

We went to war because of lies that lay behind war hawks wanting oil and money, and crazies who thought they could force a Mid-East war which would force Christ to return.
Could that money have been spent more wisely.

OK, where did you get these numbers from? Did you even bother to fact check them?
Tell us.
.....And nothing.
For the years of the Iraqi war/occupation, 2003-2011, the interest on the ENTIRE U.S. DEBT averaged about $350 Billion per year. The cost of the Iraqi war/occupation was about $800 billion.
If you take $350B and multiply it by 40 years you get $14 trillion. OP claims the interest on the Iraqi war totaled up over 40 years would be $7 Trillion, or half the amount of interest on ALL U.S. DEBT for 40 years.
In 2014 the U.S. debt is about $17 trillion and the interest on that was $430 Billion. So how in the world can the Iraqi war, at a cost of $800 billion create $7 trillion in interest payments over 40 years?
Furthermore, take the $800 billion spent on the war and charge off 5% interest rate per year (way higher than it is now, but OK) and plug it into a spreadsheet as a loan for 40 years and the total amount paid, principal plus interest = $1.85 Trillion.
So don't post crap about the interest on the debt from the Iraqi war over 40 years will cost the U.S. $7 trillion, when in fact it would be about $1 trillion.
