I don't think so. It sounds similar to Red Dawn with the parachuting troops.

I can't imagine any scenario (outside of total collapse of the country caused by Civil War, Revolution or an EMP) where foreign troops parachute into any rural area of the U.S, including Alaska. There's simply too many of us rural folk with guns, and some of us with plans already in place.

Back when the Burn Loot Murderers (BLM) chose to come up to our mountain county from Winston-Salem and march around one of our towns, us locals discussed how to deal with them in the event they choose to Burn Loot and Murder in our tiny town that only has 6 cops, or if they marched to our other town that doesn't even have a police force.

Ultimately in that situation the community opted for a show of strength where a bunch of locals open-carried rifles, shotguns and handguns around town when the BLM-ers marched. The burn-loot-murder crowd got the message, and they ain't been back since.

I say that all to say that I'm sure our overseas adversaries are aware of our rural population and the grit that still resides therein. Our adversaries would try to take the cities first rather than the rural areas, just like what is happening in Ukraine and just like what we did in Afghanistan. The cities are the prize, the rural areas are ripe for resistance and it will be a long slog for any occupying force.

We've been keeping a precarious peace with Russia under the concept of "mutually assured destruction" for 60 years. Nuclear treaties were instrumental in doing so. The Trump came along and decided that a nuclear war was winnable. He backed out of nuclear treaties with Russia. The bottom line in "Fail Safe" is the only way to win a nuclear war is to not play the game. He's a lunatic madman dangerous for the entire world.

Do you think that Russia would have any problem in breaking any treaty?

A close friend of mine's husband flew B-52's over N Dakota and other areas simulating nuclear attack scenario's. He was ordered to simulate a U.S. first strike and refused to do so. He was thrown into the brig. She went to his commanding officer and threatened to call Walter Cronkite and inform him that we were lying when we said we did not have plans for a nuclear first-strike unless her husband was released and given an honorable discharge. He was released and given an honorable discharge.

The Russians weren't the only ones lying about nuclear capabilities and plans.

That appears to be highly classified material - (if not -top secret) which means that she would NOT be privy to that information - and if she was - then (assuming the hubby told her) he would be in Levenworth!

So I am not so sure that story your friend told you was actually all factual......

It was highly classified. That's why the commander let him go. Neither she nor her husband ever made it public and my account is just a "good story" but it's true. She's my ex-wife BTW. After the pilot. She was very smart and against war just as I am but also very stubborn. She wouldn't have backed down for anything and would have shrugged off any threats made by the military.
