My friends, the EPA is trying to shut down coal-fired electricity. There is controversy concerning the legal ability of the EPA to act. It is estimated that the wholesale price of electricity could rise 80% if the EPA has their way. Many coal-fired plants would be forced to close.

Count on Coal.org says, "The coal mining industry is the source of 204,580 direct coal mining jobs and supports a total of 805,000 jobs in the U.S. economy. On average, coal miners earn $77,475, well above the national average of $46,451 and in states where coal is mined these jobs are often among the highest wages in the state."

IMHO, this is just one more back door attempt to neuter the economy of the country, so that when things get bad enough, the ZERO will suddenly find some(?) answer that involves giving the gov't the keys to your life in perpetuity!:mad:

Obama told us years ago he was OK with a huge increase in the price of electricity. Nobody listened.

He's just not concerned the effect this will have on the economy and our pocketbooks.

Just another case of no price is to high to pay as long as he gets his way.

"You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know -- Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it -- whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers."
Typically, since he couldn't get this economically damaging piece of legislation passed, he's using the EPA to do it.

He just doesn't care what it costs consumers or how many jobs are eliminated.
