Someone on the BB has made the claim that most Baptist churches hold to Covenant Theology. He went on to say that most are not Dispensational.
I find that claim absurd. Most Baptist churches are not Calvinistic. A minority are Calvinistic or Reformed Baptist. The latter would adhere to Covenant Theology.
Of course there are subsets of Progressive dispensationalism and New Covenant Theology.
Now just because a given congregation has a church covenant has absolutely nothing to do with Covenant Theology -- that is an irrelevancy.
So I am asking folks here to state whether their church is Covenantly-oriented or Dispensationalist.
Let me know where your church stands on this issue please.
Scripture talks a lot about idle babble, busy bodies, and chatter. This post is riddled with error. First of all, Calvin and Covenant do not always go together. There is no parallel. One might say they usually go together, but that is the problem with those who make absolute statements. As I said many times, to which you do not listen, both denominations ( SBC and Presbyterian) have covenant theology stances. I have served in one or the other all my life. Many SBC churches around here believe in covenant theology. It has nothing to do with a church covenant, and you misstated (an alternative term to liar) that I got the two mixed up. To answer your silly question, our church is covenant. It has been since 1974. We are a SBC church. Any more questions or misstatements? It really gets old, you making claims on experiences you never lived.
The Bible is one unified book in harmony. It is not divided into eras of time. This is not the real issue to you. The real issue is to push your ecumenical agenda and bash the origins of the Baptist faith.
Here are a few verses about the motivation behind idle chatter.
Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Ephesians 5:4
Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
2 Timothy 2:14-16
Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,
Titus 1:15
To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled.

I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,

O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,”
1 Timothy 5:13
Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not.
Proverbs 20:14
Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler.
Proverbs 15:4
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
Proverbs 10:8-10
The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin. Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. Whoever winks the eye causes trouble, but a babbling fool will come to ruin.
Exodus 20:16
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
James 3:6
And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.
Romans 1:29
They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Matthew 5:43-48
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
Proverbs 31:9-10
Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy. An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish—that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.
Matthew 6:1-34
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
James 1:1-27
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings. Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Matthew 5:37
Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
John 3:1-36
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
