Covid-19 "Curveballs" and Causes of Death

There are people on BB who are claiming many of the deaths being attributed to Covid-19 aren't really from Covid-19 and there is some unethical reason that these deaths are being recorded as such.

I found this article to be very interesting. Basically it says that the body's response to contracting Covid-19 is causing all kinds of strange reactions, exacerbating the usual treatments and flummoxing doctors. It is likely that people are dying of causes brought on by Covid-19, causes normally thought unrelated to historical coronaviruses. And these deaths are not from pre-existing conditions.

---

"This is not just a disease of the virus. Something else peculiar happens to the human body."--Dr. Mandeep Mehra

The hospitals readied themselves for a surge, they focused on the lungs. Ventilators were lined up in neat rows. Extra staff was called in to train on emergency treatment of breathing complications.

But as the ICUs filled with covid-19 patients, surprised doctors began to see dysfunction in other organs: Kidneys. Liver. Intestines. Skin. Even the brain. Dr. Pascual called them "curveballs," and there were a lot of them.

In New York, Dr. Reich was doing rounds at the hospital just as its patient load was accelerating, and a critical care doctor grabbed him in the hallway talking about how strange it was the tubes in kidney machines were clogging. A few days later, he heard from a lung specialist who was seeing an unusual pattern of high carbon dioxide levels in patients, even after giving them large amounts of oxygen. Then, a neurosurgeon called in about unusual clots in patients in their 30s and 40s.

New York is lying for sure., but it all boils down to just 2 reasons, money and politics. Got caught red handed cooking the books on nursing home deaths.

Boy they sure are trying to justify their exaggerated claims.
Do you have any background in the physical sciences, Rev?

It appears to me more and more that your skepticism is related to a philosophical ideology rather than any scientific epistemology.

My skepticism is a result of the ideology of those making the claims and the many occurances of flat out being wrong.

Are you saying doctors are not seeing cases where kidneys, liver, intestines, skin, and brains are being adversely affect by covid-19?

The virus that causes Covid-19 was new and much about it was unknown.

Early in the process of discovery hypothesis’s are developed based upon limited evidences, best guesses.

As more information is gathered the initial hypothesis’s are refined, rejected or confirmed.

What do we know now?
1. The virus is highly transferable, estimates are one source infects 2 to 3 others within 4 days.
(the ordinary flu only infects 1 other in a longer time period). That makes the spread of this virus exponentially quick. Large crowds increase the likelihood of multiple victims.
The high transferability of the virus is one of the factors that made quarantine an important weapon in fighting its spread.

2. Long lived The virus can spread via airborne transmission, sneezing, coughing, even breathing can aerosol the virus. The virus can survive on surfaces (glass, plastics, wood, paper etc.) for up to 2 to 5 days. Transfer can occur from a contaminated surface to the eyes, nose, mouth by simple touch.

3. Those at highest risk are the elderly, immune deficient, those with respiratory and cardiac weaknesses, hypertension, and diabetes.

4. The virus can present itself in various ways, multiple organs, often with contradictory symptoms. Death can occur from respiratory failure, liver failure, heart failure, brain and kidney failure etc.

When you know about the illness it becomes easier to understand where the news reports go wrong. The popular news is a terrible source of primary information (general news is business based and relies upon advertising revenue).

A source of information that I have found to be trustworthy, relevant and has the ability to hold my attention is found on YouTube, Ninja Nerd Science, Covid-19: Epidemiology and Pathophysiology.

The presenter refines his presentation each month, updating and clarifying to include the more recent data known.

Ignorance can be deadly. Learn all you can about the virus and then decide how you will respond.

Don’t put your life, the lives of those you live with, and the lives of those you meet in danger without taking the proper precautions to insure safety.

Whatever precautions people may or may not need to take the national shutdown of the economy was not the proper way to handle this. That has done more to hurt peoples lives than the virus.

What we also know is that the recovery rate is at 98 %. When that fact is ignored in these conversations and the worst cases are only lifted up then that tells me it is done so out of ideology.

I know a lot of people. Congressman at the state and federal level. I know counselmen, nurses, doctors, police, and many people. No one I know is sick.

I do not wear mask and gloves, I touch my face, I go on day to day and Im not sick. My experience has just as much value as those who try to paint the worst possible picture. When they do I do not trust their intentions.

What you relate is called antidotal evidence. No one I know directly is ill either, but we have had family members of those in our congregation that have died, one couple.

You are simply being irresponsible.
If or when you get the virus you could be responsible for infecting a host of others. Up to 2 weeks of asymptomatic virus shedding before you become ill.
Sure you may be willing to take the chance but what about the others you inadvertently infect?

Politics has distorted the picture so much that many of us are torn conerning what to believe. The corona deaths are tragic, but the death of our republic would go beyond tragic.

An example of political bias in the corona war would be Dr. Luciana Borio's media quotes about Trump administration mishandling of the pandemic. Dr. Borio is a disgruntled ex head of the National Security Council's global health security team, a bureaucracy set up by the Obama administration. She lost her job there when that team along with two other NSC branches were consolidated, but now that she was kicked to the curb, the media considers her to be a more viable pandemic expert than anyone else working on the problem. Her dislike for Trump's suggested use of hydroxychloroquin is something that the media types like to capitalize on.

The media has been irresponsible.

The government lied about the purpose of the lockdown. Trump may be re-elected but so will most Democrats.

No career politicians were harmed in this pandemic.

Rich people have a lower rate of infection because they have a higher standard of living.

We are not all in this together. The rich are sitting this one out.
Tom Hanks and wife, Boris Johnson, Prince Charles, Pink, Rudy Gobert, Kevin Durant, Idris Elba, Rand Paul, Debra Mazar, Sophie Trudeau, Domingo Placido, Jackson Browne, Chris Cuomo, etc. etc.

All these people are sitting this one out.

It is real there. And that 100,000 deaths could be they predict until June 1st. Only way to flatten curb is through vaccine and more testing.
