I'm sure that some of the people at the cowboy church do wear boots and hats to their churches. But, it's NOT a costume or a specially-themed attire. It's what they wear every single day. To them - it's regular and normal clothing. They don't say, "OK, it's time to go to church. Where's my rootin', tootin' cowboy outfit?"

I wear to church exactly what I wear to work everyday. That's all they are doing.

We wouldn't go to some island nation where men wear lava-lavas and say, "Why are these guys dressed like islanders?" The question seems silly. Why question the church jeans, church boots, and church hat attire of living, breathing, actual cowboys who live this way everyday of their lives?

 That was my impression. He asks a few honest questions with no intention of insulting, and he is immediately and consistently pounced on for it. I must have missed the part where he started hurling insults at "Cowboy Churches". WOW!!!! Just, WOW!!!

Uh...no one "pounced" on anyone in this thread. But there was concern about how he characterized them.

I have heard of the cowboy churches and I am not sure like the op about them. I grew up in the mid west and everybody there wore cowboy boots and blue jeans to church. It was what we had. At the church I am preaching at now some of our members come dress in cowboy boots and jeans. The ladies some in jeans some in dress pants. We let people know we do not care how you dress just come. So I do not understand cowboy churches. By the way almost all the churches were I grew up are that way. But there are a bunch of farmers and ranchers there and they were boots and jeans as dress attire. Is the music different, is the preaching different, what denomination are most of them? I am just curious about them.

Brother,

Go back and read my post #7 on page 1.

Our local Cowboy Church is for rodeo participants and their parents and anybody really who work that type of job on weekends and can't get to church on Sunday.

They meet on Tuesday night.

The sole focus of the church is the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I know men who've been saved there.

Here's a link to their facebook page.

If the link doesn't work, go to facebook and look up North Louisiana "Crossfire" Cowboy Church.
