INDIANAPOLIS — An independent, nationwide analysis of voter rolls in 42 states has identified thousands of probable deceased and duplicate registrants, as well as cases of individuals credited for voting more than once. The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) has launched the Safeguarding America’s Votes and Elections (SAVE) Database as an analysis tool to track voter roll deficiencies and potential problem areas across America. Announced today, the groundbreaking findings in their national report indicates that the SAVE Database raises serious concerns over the integrity of states’ voter files as election officials anticipate a surge in mail-in voting this fall.

From working as a precinct election judge in our county, my experience was mostly people on the rolls who were deceased or had moved. Not too many duplicates in our case. Fortunately, we were a rural precinct where those of us who worked the polls knew most of the registered voters, and were extremely likely to know the names of dead people and would not have allowed anyone to vote under such a case. These problems are greatly exacerbated with early voting, mail ballots, and urban areas where the poll workers do not know a large portion of voters.

In our case, I think the dead and other problematic issues piled up simply because of a lackadaisical attitude among those who were responsible for the voter registration in the county. The last registrar we had while I was still working elections made a concerted effort to clean up the rolls, and did a pretty good job. I remember one thing she mentioned was that she had to have a verifiable record (i.e. death certificate) to prove that a person on the roll had died before she could remove a person. This was not a problem if they died locally, but was if they had moved away.

Motor Voter law causes most of the corruption. It essentially allows the voter to do whatever he pleases. I was an inspector for a few elections. Elections are no longer strict orderly events as they were in the past. Indianapolis has a lot of ballot stuffing.

Mexico has an impressive voter ID system whereby their federal government issues every citizen with a high quality plastic photo ID card. One must show that card to vote in Mexico. They are stricter than we are.
