Are you talking about M*A*S*H or The Book of Daniel?

On another discussion board the show was billed as written by a gay man.

I have found two different news articles on the internet that affirm that the writer of 'Book of Daniel' is indeed a gay man.

One site is World Net Daily

I don't watch episodic TV (other than "Law and Order" and, occasionally, "Monk"). Normally, it's either sports, History Channel, or "Mythbusters", so I'm afraid I haven't seen it and probably won't.
The problem with "shock-em-so-they-watch-again" is that nobody watches them again.

If you think back through, say, the last ten years, everytime one of these shows that lampoons religious beliefs and those who hold them, it is a disaster for the network.

How many people here remember "Nothing Sacred"? "God, the Devil, and Bob"? "Heaven Help Us"? That Dan Ackroyd sitcom that I can't remember the name of?

    Nobody? My point exactly.

The best thing to do is to ignore these shows and they will go away without our giving them a lot of free publicity.

The world is in the shape it is in today because not enough christians had the backbone to protest against Madyline Murray O'Hare, Roe v Wade, etc.

We cannot just turn our back on sin and hope it will go away.

    This will go away.

Historically, shows like this are disasters for the network.

Better to let them figure it out for themselves and cancel it than to prop the show up by creating a buzz around it.

I'm all for speaking out against things, but it's better to use discernment and know when to step in and when to let things run their course.

If the public's reaction to such shows in the past is anything to go by, I promise you, this show will not see the end of the season.

We can just sit back and say it will go away, yes. But while we are waiting for it to go away, it is destroying more young minds into deceiving them to believe that homosexuality is ok, and drugs are too.

The christian is to stand for truth, not hide in a corner and wait for the enemy to go away.

So instead of letting the show die a quick death, it's better for us to raise a fuss over it, cause more people to watch it to see what all of the controversy is about, which makes the ratings go up, and make the show last longer?

How does prolonging the life of this show help anything?

    You don't understand.

Networks do not cancel shows because Christians get their knickers in a knot over a controversial show. They could not care less about us because we're not the demographic that their advertisers are trying to reach and they don't believe that we watch TV, anyway.

If they did, Jerry Springer, Married With Children, and a host of other shows would have been canceled.

Networks cancel shows because nobody is watching the show. The more we complain about the show, the more people are going to watch just out of curiousity to see what all of the fuss is about.

That's not helping. It's only making the problem worse.

    Amen, arkie pastor!

As I said earlier, christians need to stand against the devil. Especially in these the last days.

Glad I missed it. I heard enough of it on Albert Mohler's show yesterday.

Let me finish that for you. Networks cancel shows because nobody is watching the show. BECAUSE if nobody is watching the show advertisors do not want to spent money to promote their product when nobody is watching. Advertisors also do not want their product name to be affiliated with negetive publicity.

This show is done. Burlington Coat Factory has a big store in Salt Lake where this show is not even on TV. This kind of publicity can not be good for buisness here. A stand against this show will keep networks from considering airing others like it in the future. $ talks.

Our local affiliate is still carrying the show, but I think it will die a quick death on its own.

Don't give it too much attention so that people will want to watch it to see what it is all about.

I watched the show this past Friday. As a Baptist, I was not too offended by the show, which appears to greatly exaggerate the stereotypical Northeastern Liberal Protestant. I was under the impression that the Episcopal Church left the Gospel behind many years ago; instead, began focusing on social justice as the end goal of humans. Anyway how many more social ills can they fit into one hour. The show has very few airings left, imo.

The portrayal of Christianity on TBN (a supposed Christian Network) bothers me tremendously more than any protrayal on a secular network.
