Nice! Hubby and I are celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and I requested that we do an Alaska cruise in 2020. We have our own boat that we will be cruising on this summer and in the next few years, we hope to move on board full time but for now, we will do weeks/month periods of time on her and travel the north east. But I still want to do the Alaska cruse because I hear it is amazing!

I cruise almost every year with the wife and kids. We usually do Disney but we are doing Carnival for the first time this year. My wife has done Carnival a lot, but this is my first cruise with them.

Alaska has been my favorite cruise, which was on Holland cruise line.

One of my favorite cruises. If possible, I suggest spending some time in Vancouver before the cruise. It is a beautiful city and this would allow you to visit Butchart Gardens and Victoria on your own rather than via an excursion. I found the excursions to be costly, so you may want to check with an outside vendor. Our two favorites were the dogsledding (incredible!) and the canoeing up next to a glacier. Hope you have a great time!

You are correct... Victoria is beautiful many Alaskan Cruises stop there. The weather is near perfect like San Diego as well.

Anyone have a cruise planned? I am going on Harmony of the Seas in May.

Hope you have a great time. Some of the hotels in Ft. Lauderdale will let you keep your car at their hotel for free (or reduced costs) if you spend a night pre-cruise. The costs for parking at the port are now $19/day. I haven't been on RCCL in years, but a co-worker loves them. Enjoy!

Also -- the FBC Ft. Lauderdale is close to the port and services start at 10:30.

Let us know what you think about the difference. I've become a fan of Holland, and will be doing a cruise with them this year. The ships are smaller and there's much less of the party atmosphere of some other lines. Not sure if it's a good line for families, as it's an older crowd. Definitely a lot of durable medical equipment.

The good thing about Holland is the older people dont use the pool much. My boys get their run of the place. Hahaha

I don’t like taking a trip to the local mall.
Why would I want to be confined on a mall-like ship for a week? :Sick

I don't care for malls either but love cruising. Cruises are not for everyone; however, these type of comments are usually made by those who have never tried it. But to each his/her own...

You will love Alaska. We did a cruise there. It was so different than where we live in Florida. The things we were most amazed at was the size of the eagles there and the massive size of the mountains. We are hoping to go again.

We went out of Seattle which was a lot of fun. Loved Pike Place Market and got to try to catch the salmon they throw. Also they have amazing clam chowder.

One of the excursions we loved was a chopper flight to a glacier. Nothing but ice and mountains to be seen.

My wife and I are going on a Carnival cruise (Freedom) after school gets out in May. This will be our third cruise - the first two being the southern gospel Singing at Sea cruise. On those cruises, there were several others from our church. This time, it's just my wife and me going to celebrate our anniversary (36 years).

Does anyone else use the "Ship Mate" app to track your previous and current cruises?

I had used the Royal app but just added the ship mate app. Thanks!

My wife and I are headed to Texas this morning to make our way to Galveston to sail out Sunday afternoon on a 6-day cruise. After the cruise, I have the honor to preach in Brazoria, TX on Sunday and Montalba, TX on Wednesday.

Your prayers for safe travels will be greatly appreciated.

I have tried them. I don't hate them, but they are low on my list.

My wife and I would like to go on a southern Caribbean cruise next year in March or April. We have previously been on a western caribbean cruise and an eastern Caribbean cruise and loved it! :)
