So did I when we lived in Maine. Someone turned us in to the Child Protection Services.God supports/commands corporal punishment and I follow God.
One of my kids told a school friend that he sometimes had gotten spankings.
Somehow that turned into his friend telling his mother that Johnny got "beatings" at home.
They came to the house looked everybody over and said we had to go through an investigation and take the evidence to court.
Then one of CPS people said "now don't go getting a lawyer".
Guess what? The very next day I got a lawyer.
To make a long story short, after great expense our case never even made it to court.
The final judgment of the social workers - The children are well nourished, socially well balanced, content, happy and with no evidence of abuse.
They checked into everything and everybody - teachers, doctors even our dentist.
We were forced into paying for the medical assessments.
So, be careful unless you have a great deal of money and a good lawyer to defend your family.
I still used corporal punishment at times e.g. One of my boys tried to smoke in one of our barns and accidentally set it on fire.
After all this, I was very careful to follow the Maine State guidelines for the use of corporal punishment on children (e.g. bare hand only on the buttocks), however the allowance withholding method worked so well that it became my first choice.
