Bidding frenzy ends with judge approving $57.5 million sale to Roman Catholic diocese.

Maria Schinderle, general counsel of the Diocese of Orange, said the 10-acre property on which St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church stands now – a stone's throw away from the Crystal Cathedral -- is being offered to the ministry as an alternate worship space.

The St. Callistus sanctuary seats 1,200 people as opposed to the Crystal Cathedral, which has more than twice that capacity.
