Revised dispensationalism consists of the corrections made to the original version of Darby, Scofield, and somewhat of Chafer. For example, in one place in his reference Bible, Scofield used the term "period of time." “A dispensation is a period of time during which man is tested in respect of obedience to some
specific revelation of the will of God” (
Scofield Reference Bible, p. 5). However, in revised dispensationalism, a dispensation is a stewardship from God to mankind, and that is far more important than the period of time, the age.
Progressive dispensationalism was invented as a way to make friends with covenant theologians in 1986 via the "Dispensational Study Group" at the Evangelical Theological Society annual meeting. “The DSG is the oldest study group of the ETS, having begun in 1986 under the leadership of Darrell L.
