We are Evangelical Church that practice Baptism on confession of faith, by immersion.Welcome to the Baptist Board forums. Is your church baptistic in faith and practice?
Great. I consider the word "baptist" to be a doctrinal definition rather than a denominational name. And you seem to fit that definition. We are Evangelical Church that practice Baptism on confession of faith, by immersion.
SNIPI live in Devon.
Or the county that protects the rest of Britain from the barbarians to the West!Ah, yes, the border county which protects Cornwall from the barbarians to the North.

Hey! Hey! We Irish are not all that barbaric. Well, not as much as we used to be. Okay, maybe just a little. Okay, okay, a lot. Okay, okay, we're still barbarians. And we like it!
I heard all from Devon, England were not called Brits. I heard they were called Brats.Welcome to the Baptist Board, David.
It's good to have another Brit on board. I live in Devon.
Welcome to BB. Which confession...if any...does your church use?Last year we had discussions withth local Grace Baptist Association about joining them and we consulted our members but one family objected, so we put it off, for the sake of unity. We had a spilt a few years ago and don't want to cause another split, but the decision is only delatyed, not cancelled. We are at presnt looking for a pastor. Many of the visiting preachers we have are from Baptist churches, most from Garce Churches. We have a retired Grace Baptist pastor and his wife as membrs and they have become very active members. Our last pastor was also from a Grace Baptist Church.
I would have you know that Devon is the only English county that rhymes with 'heaven.'I heard all from Devon, England were not called Brits. I heard they were called Brats.

I live in the great state of West Virginia. We have a motto...West Virginia, almost heaven. That's a lie.I would have you know that Devon is the only English county that rhymes with 'heaven.'
You chaps will have to come and see for yourselves.
For the benefit of those across the Pond, most Baptist churches in the UK belong to the apostate Baptist Union (the one Spurgeon left 120 years ago). The Grace Baptist Association churches generally adhere to the 1689 Confession.Last year we had discussions with the local Grace Baptist Association about joining them and we consulted our members but one family objected, so we put it off, for the sake of unity. There is a via media for Baptist churches, which is the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches, which has its own Statement of Faith, rather less detailed than the 1689.
