When God began speaking to the Jews in parables in Matthew 13 it was after Jesus in chapter 12 had cursed this generation of Israel declaring that he will not save them in this age or the age to come. This was at the end of his earthly ministry and when Jesus began speaking to the multitude at the sea side after having left the tribal rulers in the house it greatly surprised the disciples and caused them to ask why is he speaking to them in parables. For the previous 3 years he had spoken plainly to them yet they did not believe. You will need to see this in print;
Joh 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father s name, they bear witness of me.
When light is rejected then the darkness becomes permanent at some point and God even providentially sends that darkness so you cannot see. According to 2 Thess 2 the same will happen to those of this age who heard the truth and rejected it. This is far more serious than we think sometimes.
Speaking about those who pass that transition in the near future God has this to say;
(2 Thess was penned by Paul in AD 51, his third letter to the churches and in he gives a prophecy that has not been fulfilled as yet but is near at hand).
2 Thess 1:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he (the man of sin) might be revealed
in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received (past tense) not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed (past tense) not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
One must approach these warnings with reverence and Godly fear and be sure he is on God's side through faith in what he says.

This is why God began to speak to the Jews in parables according to his own words after he had warned them of the unpardonable sin in Chapter 12.
Matthew 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people s heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16 But blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
You must note the transitions in the scriptures and ask questions of the text and the first question should be why.
So earlier in this thread I illustrated how a week of recurring seven 24 hour days of men would typify one prophetic week of 1000 year days of God by referencing Mark 9 beginning in verse 1. When we come to crucifixion week we see the same pattern again. The day weeks of men are the figure for the year week of God and they have the same framework.
Briefly, without going into all the details in this post, i am going to give the broad view of the crucifixion week. Jesus begins marching through the week by going from the mount of Olives, where he stays during the night, to the temple in Jerusalem, which is close by. His disciples go with him. He does this for the first four days and on the third day he curses the fig tree on his way into the city because he sees the fig tree with leaves on it signifying it has figs, but it has no fruit. The fig tree bears figs before it bears leaves. On the fourth day when they make their way into the city they behold the tree is dried up so quickly and now has neither leaves or figs. It is dead. This figure is a symbol for the nation. (this info is in Mk 11)
So four of man's days of the week are passed and likewise this is taking place at the end of the 4th millennium. Remember since creation, God's prophetic days are as 1000 year days. This is the last day and the last time that Jesus will ever be with the Jews in this temple. He goes back with 4 of his disciples to the Mt of Olives and assures them that the temple will be destroyed without one stone left on top of another. There are no more teaching encounters between the national rulers and Jesus for the next two days, days 5 and 6, which represents the church age of 2 of God's 1000 year days. At the beginning of these two days this dead nation is going to be taken from their land and buried in the nations of the world. It will be raised from the dead very early in the morning of the third day. Meanwhile there is no physical temple needed during these years because there is no Israel and Jesus is not physically present on the earth.
I have noticed in my study of history that Israel was dispersed from her land into all the nations of the world and the land left empty and desolate, yet this people have survived as a distinct people in spite of being scattered and have been resurrected as a nation after two thousand years and are now occupying their land. It is one of the most incredible miracles God has ever performed yet it is denied by most of Christianity's denominational groups who have developed a systematic theology that not only refuses to believe God's covenant promises to Abraham, Isaac and Israel are everlasting concerning the land and the government of the world but denies it is true.
The continuity of the scriptures demands that the crucifixion day is day 6 or the day we call Friday, I think.
