Dead In Sin 2.0

In a recently closed thread, several unresolved controversies emerged.

1) Does Dead in Sin mean the person is unable to understand and affirmatively respond to the spiritual milk of the gospel? Both the Calvinist and Arminian leaning posters claimed the answer was YES. I said scripture does not allow that view.

2) Next, the Doctrine of Original Sin was partly denied because the doctrine said those made sinners were guilty of Adam's sin. I believe scripture does not allow that view. No one is guilty of another's sin. But we suffer the consequences of another's sin, such as being made sinners.

3) Another take on Original Sin says since we "inherited" the guilt of Adam's sin, is that all people deserve punishment for Adam's sin. Again, I believe scripture precludes that view.

4) When God forms our human spirit within our physical bodies, we are brought forth spiritually into "Adam" or "the realm of darkness" and NOT "in Christ." And in this sinful state, we cannot do anything to merit our transfer out from the realm of darkness and into the God's kingdom.

Thus being spiritually dead means our human spirit is spiritually separated from God, but does NOT mean we are unable to hear and understand and respond to the gospel of Christ. We need no "enabling grace" such as the fictions of Irresistible Grace and Prevenient Grace.

Bottom line, Total Spiritual Inability is a fiction, thus the lost have the limited spiritual ability to hear, understand, and affirmatively respond to "spiritual milk" including the fundamentals of the gospel of Christ.

As fallen people, made sinners, thus conceived in a spiritually separated state we were "dead in sin."

But just what are the consequences of being "made sinners?" Romans 5:19

We are separated from God, thus in the realm of darkness, in Adam. We were conceived in "unbelief," therefore we need to hear of God's provision, the narrow path to salvation, and we need to understand and heed that information, such that we place our faith in the name of Christ Jesus.

Some wrongly claim God created us in this position, yet precluded us from being able to respond to His revelations. But no scripture actually supports this bogus claim.

We know that no one trusts in Christ unless they have listen and learned from the Father. So to say the Father first prevents listening and learning, then enables listening and learning is unsound.

And we know that initially we are fallen children of wrath, had limited understanding of God's revelation, for we could not understand spiritual solid food. But we know that Paul spoke to men of flesh (children of wrath) using spiritual milk, which includes the fundamentals of the gospel. To claim Paul spoke using spiritual milk and was not trying to "win some" is unsound.

To make my position clear for what it's worth, man is able on his own to reason the Gospel when he hears it, but totally unable to come to the knowledge of the truth (salvation) without the drawing of the Holy Spirit when the Gospel is heard.

This is not the same total depravity as claimed by the Calvinists, far from it.

Thanks, your view has worth as it matches scripture. We start out in unbelief, and must be exposed to the gospel, which is God's revelatory grace. Unless we hear and heed (learn) we cannot access God's grace, the opportunity for salvation.
