Debate commission adopts new rules to mute mics

out of the presidential race? :D:Cool
Trump can still do a good job debating Biden. The argument Biden could have done better with the covid crisis is immediately shown dumb and dumber because when Trump shut down travel in March to various affected areas of the world, Biden and other dufus democrats were fussing about Trump's xenophobia. Meaning they would have done nothing.

I like the ideal - the purpose is so that the individual answering the question - has two minutes un-interrupted!
After the 2 minutes - BOTH mikes are back on

This is the part that sounds particularly bogus. Given how poorly they divvied up the time in the VP debate, and how much the moderator interrupted Pence compared to Harris, they are not to be trusted to charge, count or time interruptions.

“The open discussion portion of the debate will not feature a mute button, but interruptions by either candidate will count toward their time in the second and final debate Thursday.”

and I don't have a problem with that - less interruptions. I know I have two ears - - but if two people are talking at the same time I cant understand either.!

I doubt the debate will make a difference. If more negative Biden evidence of corruption comes out, that may discourage people from voting for Biden, they likely would just not vote at all.

or they would vote for a third party

Well that is pretty much a throw away your vote step to take, like in despairing vote for anyone else.
Do democrats abandon their party that way to vote for someone other than a democrat? I wonder how many would do that.

Sounds like you missed the point of my post entirely. That little twist gives the biased moderator an opportunity to charge interruption time to the person who was interrupted, or even charge interruption time caused by the moderator to the person who was interrupted.

Try watching the VP debate with a stopwatch and note especially how and when the moderator interrupts and when she doesn’t and you may catch my meaning. The moderators have thus far been rather effective at interrupting one candidate in preference to the other.

But maybe you prefer to hear the moderators air their own opinions to the point of having a two-on-one debate. It’s OK for them to break it up when the candidates have locked horns, but the likelihood of them being fair in penalizing seems low.
