Debates are a waste of time

I prefer the term discussion to debate because debating is so often a waste of time. For example no matter what I say I won't convince the likes of people like Sapper who refuses to read books like TWOTM because it disagrees with his views. So often this is the case with most around here. Baptist Believer wants to learn so he is reading. I have said a thousand times the author will make better arguments and use scripture more so than me because he has more time to spend.

Like debating politics I just give up. FB is loaded with so much anti Trump garbage and no matter what I say these liberals and sadly even some Christians will dislike Donald no matter what.

So I give up on debating as it's a waste of time.

So you think others should read the book because you can't explain or defend it "well enough" yourself?

Has SapperWoody told you that he doesn't read those books "because" it disagrees with His views? Or are you speculating? ?

But the author is not here to explain himself or field questions.

IMO, it is not a waste of time when we become aware of our differences.

Personally my own views have been impacted over the years (since 2001) debating with brethren.

We learn first hand from those whose views differ from our own and not from those who agree with us and often times mistakenly misrepresent others views.

I have learned such virtues as patience and understanding with those who differ in their views from mine.

Whatever our differences we have a common commandment "love one another".

Discussion and debate force us to defend our views; which requires research and learning. It helps us grow.

If we don't grow, we stagnate. If we stagnate, we breed mosquitos. When we breed mosquitos, someone sprays us with pesticides. When we get sprayed with pesticides, we become unusable.

Sapper won't admit to it, but I figured it out on my own. He refuses to buy and read a WOTM book because he is close minded. If he is interested in discussion on the book and the supported scriptures then I am open, but he is not.

Baptist Believer however is different and so I await his next post.

So, I literally laughed out loud when I read that you said I was close minded. I'm very open minded. I'd love to discuss things with you. As long as it's a discussion where you can back yourself up instead of telling me to read a book. I don't want to discuss Ray Comfort. I want to discuss YOUR opinion/stance/belief. Not what Comfort tells you to believe.

Btw, twice now you've declined to answer me concerning whether or not you can claim witchcraft is bad. After all, like I've said before, I've read the greater and lesser keys of Solomon. So, should I listen to you if you tell me that summoning spirits is wrong?

There is a drastic difference between a discussion on evangelism methodology or theology compared to a discussion on the occult. Scripture warns us repeatedly about staying away from the occult. To compare Comfort who is a believer to the occult just shows how close minded and ignorant you are.

He didn't compare the two. YOU made that connection, not him.

That's what I thought. You dodged the question with a strawman. I never compared the two. I asked if your logic stood up. Obviously, it doesn't.

Evan, you can neither discuss nor debate because you cannot stand your views being challenged. Come back when you can. The thread is closed.
