Please, stop this "Democracy" mantra. We are a Constitutional Republic whose representatives are elected in a democratic fashion - that's it! Once elected, our representatives are supposed to pass laws in accordance with the Constitution and not deviate from it as they seem to do so often.

The Federal government has it's powers spelled out in the Constitution, and anything not specifically cited as an enumerated power of said Federal government belongs to the individual states, or to the people.

Future of workers uncertain as third-biggest US coal company declares bankruptcy

The third-largest coal company in the United States has declared bankruptcy, leaving the future of its more than 1,000 workers uncertain. The announcement is also the latest indicator that the faltering coal industry is spinning further into decline despite the efforts of President Donald Trump to save it.

Wyoming-based Cloud Peak Energy filed for Chapter 11 reorganization on Friday, a move that has been expected since at least the spring. The company has pointed to a weak market as a leading reason for its struggles..

Cloud Peak’s financial troubles reflect the broader realities of coal, which is being displaced by cheaper energy sources, including natural gas and renewables. Since 2015, major coal companies Alpha Natural Resources, Peabody Energy, Arch Coal, Mission Coal, and Westmoreland Coal have all declared bankruptcy amid falling profits and increasing concerns over long-term viability.

This is a ridiculous point to argue. You can call us whatever you want to.

No, it is not a ridiculous point to argue. With elected officials constantly using this mantra, many citizens have been led to believe that our nation is something it isn't.

It isn't the Constitution these people are talking into account when they vote for laws or Federal programs, it's how much free stuff that they can give away to certain groups from the treasury despite having no constitutional basis to do so.

It's no wonder we are in the mess we are in, mainly with now having a national debt of some 21 trillion dollars and entitlements like Medicare and Social Security due to collapse within 10 or 15 years.
