Defending our liberties - from a Christian point of view

If you and everyone else here cared more about protecting and defending our liberties

I am thankful for the liberties we have in the United States. (and those not in the US, please comment on your country).

Would it be the end of the world - if we lost our liberty - or would it make us stronger Christians?

James 1:2 , “Count it all joy when you fall into various trials.” If you were to tell that to someone who never had read the Bible, they probably would think that you were crazy to make such a statement. “Count it all joy” when we have bad things happen to us?! How can we “count it all joy” when terrible things happen to us? It is not that we have to have a big smile on our faces when terrible things happen to us. Rather, it is that we are able to find joy in times of trouble.

It has been said there are cycles of time:
“From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”

I think this song sums up my Faith

As much as I would hate for it to come, the loss of liberties just may be what is needed to get the faux Christians - and their influence - OUT of the churches, as well as making many non-believers more open to truth.

9-11 had this potential, but it sure fizzled after there were no follow- ups. Apparently it's gonna take something far more drastic to do the job & I don't look forward to it!!!

Could you make us a list of these liberties you're so thankful to have?

Hello . . . ?

This is boring. Hey Arbo how about some silly oversize graphics to make things a little more interesting?

Good point Arbo
I remember last year after Hurricane Sandy, the SBC reported many professions of faith. I would be curious how many of those are still living for the Lord. Think "there are no atheists in a foxhole".

The Christian perspective is that we must always be in this world but not of this world. To speak out against immorality is fine. To ally ourselves with any particular party or political philosophe is not. period.

FTW, just want to make sure I understand what you are saying.
I agree with you in that we should preach against immorality.
However, are you saying its wrong to ally with a political party?

It ain't none to smart to ally with a political party that is allied with terrorists which both parties are now.

I cannot imagine why Salty does not answer you. I offered some time back to buy you a one way ticket to the country of choice I made a list of. Take me up on the offer, and it will not take long for you to figure out which liberties he is talking about. Then again, those who never had to pay the price, liberties come really cheap, just like incessant talk.

Salty won't answer my question for the same reason you have to resort to name calling. You can't debate the facts without looking foolish.

Hint: Maybe he'd look more foolish if you took him up on his offer...

As to the OP, without Christianity, there is no liberty: politically or spiritually. Without Christianity, there is no justice. So, punishing tyrants to protect freedom is eminently Christian.
