But it was never part of the Scriptures among orthodox Christianity. Tertullian himself was not Orthodox, as you yourself will admit. The doctrines I mentioned are not part of Orthodox Christianity and cannot be defended using Scripture alone. That is your problem. They are extra-Biblical. They are additions to the Scripture.

Check again. Orthodox believe in the resurrection of Mary they call it her dormition. Compare Catholic Mariology and Orthodox Mariology and you will find many similarities.

Scriptures Don't hold everything. For instance scriptures say to baptize. Yet we see in the Didache (during the apostolic period) that baptism must be done in "living water" or real water not stagnant Putrid water or wine or some other thing. There must be a flowing to it. That is tradition that is not in scriptures but we see the consistent teaching of that passed down from Apostolic period. for instance. You sing hymns not in the bible that is your tradition but it is not from the Apostolic times. Mariology is not like your tradition.

Where was it stated in the bible that she had ascended though?

Where did it state in the Bible that there was to be a living apostolic succession?

The fact that they believed demonstrates a man-made tradition outside of the Bible. It demonstrates revelation that was added to the Bible. It demonstrates that there are religions such as the RCC and others who add their own revelation and do not believe in a closed canon of Scripture. If you do not believe in a closed canon then you can add whatever you want to the Bible.
Scriptures Don't hold everything.
Yes they do. They are all-sufficient. They are our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Anything outside of Scripture is not authoritative or inspired, but just a man's opinion and can be refuted.

Like I said: not authoritative, just opinion, and can be refuted. The Bible is our guide.

The Bible teaches to sing hymns. Do you want Scripture? It is not tradition. It is a Biblical command.
but it is not from the Apostolic times.
Yes it is.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Mariology is not like your tradition.
No, it extra-biblical and anti-biblical revelation, that is condemned by God.

The didache is proof.

Scriputres do not make that claim of itself. So your opinion can be refuted as well.

But you can't find the specific Hymn Rock of Ages in there now can you? That is what I'm talking about.

Yes it is.

Nothing in that passage that says its the sole authority and nothing else is.

Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
You are doing a rabbit chase I never said Hymns were wrong I said your tradition involvers specific Hymns sung that arn't in scriptures.

No, it extra-biblical and anti-biblical revelation, that is condemned by God.
Again you show your ignorance on this topic of Mariology try studying the history of Marian veneration and you'll be suprised how far back it goes

Proof of what? The didache is not the Bible.

The Scriptures do make that claim. The fact that you don't accept the evidence is simply evidence of your own unbelief.

The Bible commands us to sing psalms and hymns. It does not command us to sing specific ones. The Lord does expect us to use our minds.

It doesn't matter about the history. It is about the Bible. If it is not in the Bible it is extra-revelation, and no different than the Book of Mormon, the writings of Ellen G. White, Charles Taze Russell, or any other cult leader. The doctrines are not in the Bible and cannot be defended from the Bible. They are all extra-Biblical, added after the canon of Scripture was closed.

Question they would probably ask back is which canon, the RCC or the real one?
