    Holman Christian Standard Bible

“When men get in a fight, and hit a pregnant woman so that her children are born [prematurely]* The bracketed text has been added for clarity. ,[14] Either a live birth or a miscarriage but there is no injury, the one who hit her must be fined as the woman’s husband demands from him, and he must pay according to judicial assessment.
23 If there is an injury, then you must give life for life,
24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 burn for burn, bruise for bruise, wound for wound.

The King James agrees... the child must not die for there to be just a penalty.

    Exodus 21:22
"If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman's husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

'Fruit departing' is not a 'premature birth'. Methinks the translation you are using is assuming an interpretation before the fact. It's clear in the reading that the mother is the agent here whose well-being is being addressed, not the fetus.

Most people will define these terms as follows:

    CONSERVATIVE - "What I think"

LIBERAL - "Anyone who's not as conservative as me."

Again posting a definitional piece I did on liberalism. I've thought of doing some others on some other elements of liberalism but this is its most insidious element:

That isn't exactly true now, is it? As I am a self-professed liberal, I can assure you that this assessment is not exactly accurate.
