"A Democratic Michigan state lawmaker has credited President Trump's publicizing of the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine with saving her life after her health "plummeted" when she contracted coronavirus.

"State Rep. Karen Whitsett of Detroit told "The Ingraham Angle" on Monday that if it wasn't for Trump pushing the drug through the Food and Drug Administration's approval process for off-label use and touting it repeatedly during his daily press briefings, she may not have made it through the terrible contagion."

Well, Hydroxychloroquine works, we have those from the medical field who gave us the heads up and told us what was working from the reports they were seeing before the pandemic hit, and allowed us to prepare.

Just a shame this has gotten political...

He said need to do test to prove as any good doctor, but we have life and death decisions right now, and it is working right now with those who are using it, some withing 24 hrs. Need to take it out of the political arena so that people can be saved.
FDA approved only for emergency use. A cytokine storm is what this drug helps block which is what causes the pneumonia then death. So the drug needs to be taken sooner that later after the patient has a deadly pneumonia, can not breath and is on a respirator. However it is not clear to me that doctors are giving chloroquine at the most appropriate time in the course of the disease, if they are giving it to patients who have already collapsed and are dying on a respirator, which is what I have been reading happens in NYC. Cuomo has blocked doctors from prescribing chloroquine except for emergency use.

Ok, you are struggling to breath, you have a few hours left to live, and your doctor has it. What do you think he should do...

I think the doctor should have been allowed to already have given the drug to the patient before that happens, but Cuomo has blocked it and the FDA has not authorized it use in that situation.

It is like putting engine oil in the car after it ran dry and seized up.

I say a pox on both of the Dems and Reps, but this works.

Yes, it became political and they were initially against it, but now begrudgingly they are coming around, as they see the results.

Neither a politician nor a bureaucracy should be able to block anything nor should their authorization be required during an emergency.

Yeah, how does a Governor say that you can't receive a medicine that the FDA has said is okay?

I think we were helped greatly by France. I think that it was this man: Dr. Didier Raoult, MD, PhD, an infectious diseases specialist, is a member of the French scientific committee on COVID-19 (Ministère des Solidarités et de la Santé, 2020)

Do you know if he is the guy?
