My preference as an American, get govt. 100% out of healthcare. That will never happen. Next best alternative is for them to 100% run it.

It is never a good idea for government to run that which the constitution does not authorize. Government always needs to be small. The more things government runs the less freedom Americans enjoy. I am never for giving up freedom.

Sorry, but that would only make the problen worse at 100% government run. The VA is 100% government run, did you miss the news stories of their incompetence?

Oh, and by the way, just where did Sen. John McCain seek treatment for his recent health problems? It certainly wasn't at the VA. What's with that?

McCain would never go to the disorganized VA; his father and grandfather were Admirals--he must have gone somewhere high class. In Indiana, the government mental hospitals were so terrible that the milder cases were sent to private institutions and some of the state hospitals were closed.

Medicare for those over 65 is insolvent and has been since LBJ passed it. Medicaid is medical welfare and is paid for by the federal and state governments with the federal government borrowing money and compiling a twenty-trillion dollar debt. The insurance market was much cheaper before Obama messed it up. People can't afford insurance but have good jobs and so they have to pay for their own medicine and still have to pay a penalty to the federal government for not having insurance. Obamacare must be repealed and the free market on health insurance deregulated.

Next the Democrats will want the federal government to pay for everyone's car insurance.

I oppose the abortion funding. With that exception, I kind of like Medicare for all.
You oppose the funding because you are a Christian and so you oppose killing of infants (in the womb or otherwise), but you are always going to have the illegal abortions lurking like Frank Sinatra's mother who well earned the name "hat pin Dolly" , I shutter to think of that ilk making a return

And i have relatives in Canada who are not. My Aunt needed knee replacement and wad told the wait time was over a year. Luckily she had money so she came here to have it done. The wait times on MRI's and other such diagnostic procedures are. month's, not weeks. While their system is good for emergencies, anything else takes time.

The fact is, people with money either come here or go to private institutions up there. Rich people and politicians simply do not wait on line for treatment like the rest of us cattle.

But his point is well taken, they are in it now.

All murder would be "ilk." Catch those performing illegal abortions and convict them of murder. The fact some will break a law is not a reason not to have the law. I shutter at the babies being legally murdered today.

I am not for government funded healthcare as a general rule. But I have to speak out on the VA healthcare. People love to bring that up. But how many on this board have had a bad experience with the VA? Personally, I've been in the VA system in three different states. Each one was excellent.

At what cost, an earlier grave perhaps?

The early grave is part of socialized medicine, Mon Ami. It is estimated that Medicare for all proposed by Sanders would cost 32 trillion dollars in ten years. In 1987, Sanders himself said that Medicaid for all would bankrupt the country. Essentially, you would have normal medical expenses plus an additional layer of federal bureaucracy, which, as you know, is very expensive and very inept. How much more tax are you willing to pay to Washington DC each year?

This is good and what we hope for. Nevertheless, I join those who wish to give eligible military private insurance so that they have choice. Also, government involvement in medicine is not limited to VA, which seems to be good in some locations and bad in other locations. The government also funds mental hospitals, which are generally being privatized in some cases, as well as Medicaid and Medicare, both programs in constant financial trouble. Doesn't the VA have financial problems, also?

We are the only country that cannot get their acts together regarding medical coverage, why is that? Do we put a mandate to not service people over 65 and then thus avoid high medical costs...do we slam our youth in order to pay for the elderly yada yada yada! The way we are going now, nothing will get accomplished. And you saw Reynolds earlier post, at least Canada is assured some type of coverage. If we keep kicking this can down the road, it will be the younger generation that takes the bull by the horns and you know what they will do....that's right, follow Berney straight into solid, and I do mean "SOLID" Socialism...and that ain't good for the country!

I am not so sure that the younger generation wants to pay almost all of their income to Washington DC in a search for doing what has never been done well anywhere in the world. The communists had total power in China, Cuba, and Russia, for example, and no one admires their socialistic medical systems.
