I daresay Republican women are doing the same thing. I think it has more to do with capitalism than any of our political parties. We are ever striving for that elusive "American Dream", so to speak. </font>[/QUOTE]I can't prove this but I would bet more Republican than Democratic woman are pursuing their own careers. I say this because I would also guess that the education level and family income level is higher on average for Republicans than for Democratics. I would guess that there are more Democratic single mothers heading up households as well and of course they have to work.

The Democrats are so intent on unseating Republicans in Congress next year that they’re even moderating their strong pro-choice stance on abortion. Case in point: The party has chosen Robert Casey Jr., who is pro-life, to run against Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, the third-ranking GOP member of the Senate and the Democrats’ chief target in the 2006 election. Writing in The New Yorker, Peter J. Boyer reveals that New York Sen. Charles Schumer – chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee – told him: "When we sat down and looked at the map we said our No. 1 take-back seat...

Does this sound familiar? EXCERPTS FROM THE NAKED COMMUNIST Former FBI agent, Cleon Skoussen, in 1958, in his book, THE NAKED COMMUNIST, revealed among other things, these long term goals of the communist agenda. The information is in the Congressional Record August 1963 and in the Communist Manifesto: U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the U.S. would be a demonstration of moral strength. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. Provide American aid...

There is a long-standing debate as to whether the black civil rights movement and the gay rights movement are related. While there are unquestionable differences, one undisputed parallel has yet to be highlighted; there is a current discussion within the Democratic Party as to whether supporting gay rights is politically viable, just as there was a similar discussion about supporting the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (not to mention, acceptance of interracial marriage). The argument can be made (and heavily defended) that the Democratic stronghold in the South began to crumble due to...

Deanocrats exposed: A party of no ideas Tuesday, August 16, 2005 Give CBS's Bob Schieffer credit for asking a simple question to expose Howard Dean as the beefless polemicist he is. The Democratic National Committee chairman sat for Mr. Schieffer's "Face the Nation" on Sunday. The topic: Iraq. The question: What do Democrats propose to do about the public perception that the war has left us more vulnerable to terrorists? "Well, I think first of all, we need a plan," Dean said; President Bush "had no plan when we got there and has no plan to get us out. (The)...

No doubt such a question will immediately raise the hackles of those who belong to the Democratic Party, but I believe this is a valid question considering the Communist Party USA and the Communist Party of Red China endorsed John Kerry for president in the last pretend election. They wouldn't endorse him unless they felt he would continue to further the agenda for world communism via the official Democratic Party. The Central American Free Trade Agreement passed the Senate last week, as everyone expected, but the more interesting news is who voted against it. Hint: This isn't Bill Clinton's Democratic Party anymore. Nafta was one of the former President's signature achievements, and free trade one of the issues he used to define himself as a New Democrat. But last week only 10 Senate Democrats found the nerve to support Cafta, as opposed to 27 who voted for Nafta in 1993. Support among House Democrats looks even worse, with 10 or fewer expected to support Cafta when it comes up for...

In 2004, Republicans surfed the morality tide into firm congressional majorities and another four years in the White House. Just this past June, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican, signed an anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage bill in a church. In April, iconic Christian political activist Dr. James Dobson and the good Rev. Chuck Colson led a political revival at a Kentucky Baptist church to fight the Dems' judicial filibusters. Across the country, Christian Republicans are weighing in more and more in this bold new era of moral politics. But a closer look reveals that, in fact, Democrats deserve to be the...

Writing in The Observer, Gaby Wood mentions the unthinkable: the Democratic Party letting go of its long defense of abortion rights. In this scenario, the Democrats put up little or no struggle against obviously anti-Roe Supreme Court nominees; let the Republicans do the dirty deed. This so that Democrats can put the issue behind them. Why would they do this? As Wood tells us: "Cynthia Gorney, author of A Frontline History of the Abortion Wars, says she has 'heard it coming from people who you certainly wouldn't have heard it from three or four years ago. Massachusetts may witness a "What's the Matter With Kansas" moment as a result of this weekend's decision by the state Democratic Party to endorse the 2003 Goodridge ruling legalizing gay marriage. Apparently, party officials believe that the only people who have issues with the ruling are reactionaries, homophobes, or fundamentalists. The problem, of course, is that there are a lot of people--independents, moderates, and even some liberals--who don't necessarily think it was the best of ideas for the state Supreme Judicial Court to revise the definition of marriage, and won't be too thrilled that the party seemingly doesn't care about...

Massachusetts Democrats are preparing to endorse same-sex "marriage" in their party platform this week, reopening a bitter split among national party leaders, some of whom fear the issue will hurt their campaign to win back majority status in Congress. State Demmocrats plan to embrace same-sex "marriage" at their party convention Saturday, despite deep disagreement over the issue between the state's two U.S. Senators, an arms-length posture by the national party, and a public backlash against it that has spawned a political movement to ban it in state law and at the federal level in the U.S. Constitution.

Miami Herald July 11, 2004 Democrats Seek An Edge In Security Debate Democrats stressed national security in drafting their party platform and declined to call the Iraq war wrong. By Steven Thomma Democratic leaders meeting in Broward County on Saturday rejected suggestions that their party's platform condemn the war in Iraq and offered instead a platform heavily stressing national security. Overall, the platform offers principles and goals but few details while attempting to buttress presidential candidate John Kerry's assertion that he would be better than President Bush at protecting the country, boosting the economy and helping the working and middle...

Foreign Policy: Under the cover of anti-Bush rhetoric, the opposition is moving toward the president's view of the world. Now the question is: "Who really means it?"The Michael Moore wing of the Democratic Party might be starting to wonder if it's been snookered. The anti-war left settled for Sen. John Kerry instead of its true love, Howard Dean. Now Kerry has turned around and picked a running mate who helped lead the charge to invade Iraq.Sen. John Edwards probably wouldn't put it quite that way. And he has done his share of flip-flopping. Like Kerry, he voted for the use...

WASHINGTON -- The Democratic Party pledges an unrelenting struggle against terrorism and a commitment to seeing Iraq succeed, according to a statement of election principles shaped heavily by national security crises. National security takes up half of the 63-page platform. It is a striking departure from past platforms and an effort to avoid ceding the advantage to Bush and Republicans on who is better at protecting the United States from terrorism. The platform contends that Bush, through unilateral acts, is responsible for damaged relationships with other nations. A spokesman for the Bush-Cheney campaign said the document was ''John Kerry's indictment...

Bearing the strong imprint of Sen. John F. Kerry, the Democratic Party's 2004 platform offers a stinging indictment of President Bush's national security policies, charging the administration has "walked away from more than 100 years of American leadership in the world" and left the country less safe.

Top Ten Reasons to Defeat George W. Bush 1. Bush is destroying workers rights and outsourcing jobs instead of protecting the right to organize and creating new jobs rebuilding schools, bridges, roads and hospitals 2. Bush is privatizing Medicare, Social Security and public education with phony reforms instead of enacting health care for all, protecting retirement funds and full funding for public education through college. 3. Bush is bankrupting the Federal Government with giant tax cuts for the very rich and super-funds to the military instead of securing the budget for human needs by taxing the rich and spending on...

Two pro-life Democrats in the House of Representatives have met with Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe to demonstrate the party’s majority in Congress evaporated as it became more entrenched in the abortion-rights camp. Reps. James Oberstar of Minnesota and Bart Stupak of Michigan provided the following statistics to McAuliffe in a March 4 meeting, syndicated columnist Nat Hentoff reported: In the 1977-78 Congress, Democrats possessed a majority of 292 seats, which included 125 pro-lifers. Now, Democrats hold only 204 of 435 seats, with only 28 pro-lifers. Oberstar and Stupak told McAuliffe pro-life Democrats could win Republican-leaning races in some...

Our Role 1-Participate with labor and allies. A number of international unions have held large national conferences, listened to the Democratic presidential candidates, and are making plans to send political activist union members out to key states. Many other organizations are also gearing up. We should be deeply involved in pushing these efforts forward and building the broadest possible coalitions that can win. Especially at the local level where the full impact of the Bush tax cuts and cuts in human needs plays out

Four years after adopting a platform demanding a government crackdown on guns, Democratic presidential candidates this year are back peddling from a decade of party support for federal regulation of firearms. John Kerry, frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, repeatedly notes in his speeches that he is a hunter, and Wesley Clark says that he has "20-some odd guns in the house." Howard Dean suggests gun laws should be left to states to decide, and Joseph Lieberman has repudiated a 2000 campaign pledge by his running mate Al Gore to license anyone buying a gun. These views represent a shift...

I'm bored with all this, I'm bored with the Democrat primary. I've been doing this for 16 years and I'm hearing the same old BS. I'm listening to the same type of people say the same old BS. I was looking for a confirmation to what most of us already believe - what I found sent chills down my spine. I’ve listed the issues separately below so as to avoid being monotonous to those who may only be interested in select issues. The direct link to each individual statement is also provided. Also note the Communist Party USA goals at the end of this article. ABORTION - Socialist Party...

BUFFALO -- The Democratic State Committee jumped headlong into the debate over same-sex marriage Monday by unanimously voting to support pending legislation that would allow gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender couples to wed. Party leaders hastened to distinguish between civil and religious marriage, explaining that they favor providing same-sex couples with the same legal protections, rights and responsibilities enjoyed by married heterosexuals but also support the right of religious institutions to refuse to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies.Monday's vote at the party's annual fall organizational meeting at the Hyatt Regency was hailed as a historic breakthrough by the Empire State Pride...

Until Herschel's discovery of Uranus in 1781, it was considered a matter of certainty that there were six planets. But the fact that everyone knew this to be true did not make it so. In like manner, college students and other insufferable connoisseurs of all human wisdom "know" that the historical Nazi Party epitomizes the extreme right-wing. It is informative to first note an academic definition of communism: "A social, political and economic system characterized by the revolutionary struggle to create a society which has an absence of classes, and the common ownership of the means of production and subsistence...
